There are mostly unconfirmed links but it makes sense really with the neurone wosits and stuff, totally can't get my brain going today!
My DD has it, I'm certain of it but the school keep saying the tests are inconclusive. Her problem is her gross motor skills are pretty good its all the other bits that go along with it she has.
Her birth was truamatic as I had eclampsia.

I also read that there something to do with the stress hormones ect at birth. I think it's one of those things where there is a link, but they can't fully explain why.

Oh, I forgot to say, I test drove the BMW 3 Series Touring today, didn't like it.

Was it posh? I hate BMW's myself, not a fan at all. DH practically needs a change of pants if he sees one of the sporty types.

Yes I've read it, and the second one too. It actually makes a huge amount of sense, and I didn't find it airy fairy at all. What it does do is give possible explanations for what seems inexplicable behaviour - eg if a child point blank refuses to line up to go into school in the morning even though they like school, it may be because they have problems being in very close proximity to other children due to a sensory problem, then it will give ideas as to what you can do to desensitise them (all done by games). How useful you find it probably depends on how wacky your child's behaviour is - my DD's is off the scale .

I'd say its definitely worth a read even if you buy it secondhand off Amazon or get it from the library rather than forking out for it new.

Sorry haven't been on for ages, and haven't read back very far, so hope everyone is well. We're having fun with baby led weaning here since Edward decided at the weekend he wasn't going to eat purees any more! So far he's enjoyed everything that's been put in front of him but by far the biggest hit was thai green curry which we had for lunch yesterday and he practically licked the bowl :rotfl:. Funnily enough the only thing which makes him gag are vegetables of any description ;)

I ended up buying because it may well give me a different perspective. There are a lot of things with him that I just think of as normal because I'm used to it.

Re weaning, I now give Amber finger foods, she will take some purees (fruit pots are still and always will be yummy, but I see them as yogurts, deserts, rather than purees) mostly though it's proper food. I give her that first then any purees or mash after that. One you get used to the gagging, it's fine. They do gag, and it can seem scary but you do get to know whats a worrying gag and whats a 'oh right, this is why I need to chew before swallowing so I'll just get it back up and give it another chew' gag.

    evening all.

am feeling a bit stressed again with K and eating food. :(

he's still hardly eating although today i was having some houmos and pitta bread and he was licking his lips so i gave him a 'chip' size piece of the pitta with some houmos and he actually ate and chewed a bit. i was so excited i called dh to come and watch. its becoming apparent now that he much prefers to eat himself when i am eating so as he is going to nursery next week and will be having lunch there can i have some suggestions of what i can leave at nursery for him. and things that i can give him when having my food.

what foods do people who are BLW give at the this age (7 months).

  • Right - I am on the lappy now so I can waffle on to my hearts content!! I like being able to keep up and post on the hero but posting is painstaking.

csh - I love Keiren's day. Maybe you could add what he likes you to do when he gets upset or what his favourite toys are atm too? When I wrote 'Introducing Benjamin John' for the CM I tried to include everything I could.

If anyone wants to see a copy of my introduction for the CM just give me a shout...

One of the most important things for us was that we didn't know if he did something momentus like walking or talking with the CM...we are still happily convinced that he did both for us first :D

There was at one point some research into the link between traumatic births and autism, though not sure if this has been completed. They had noticed a correlation between forceps/ventouse deliveries and autism, and were hypothesising that perhaps the autism was operating even at that early stage to prevent the unborn child understanding the signals to get into the optimum position to come down the birth canal.

My DD was a ventouse delivery, and was born looking off to one side, so if the theory is right, even in the womb she wasn't good at maintaining eye contact with anyone!
  • Evening all. How is everyone, I have missed you all!

Have been really busy here, and not made it in, (have quit Farmville now, that'll make some difference). A bit of bickering going on here, lots of work to do at the allotment, busy at work, and a baby/toddler who is spending less time BF, so I'm not stuck on the sofa next to the laptop as much ;)

Izzy is coming along in leaps and bounds - we have a few new words (the favourite currently is shoes... I'm going to have a proper girly girl on my hands, I can see it ;) ), the beginnings of imaginative play (she helps her teddies to share her drinks, and sometims I have to BF them too!), and she is getting really good at climbing. We also have impending teeth, and the beginnings of temper tantrums, which is not so good, but we will get through it ;)

Just had news that another of my mummy friends is expecting again (there will only be 2 of us who have only children once the current set are born), and I'm casting jelous glances at double buggies :( Tough though, as pennies won't allow any more just yet. I will have to get lots of huggles in with the other babies to make up for it!

I have another job internview tomorrow, so maybe if I get that then then plans can contine.

I hope everyone is ok - I will have a little look back in a mo. Has anyone heard from Feelie? I noticed she had unfriended us all, and sent her a few messages, but I don't want to be an internet stalker person, so I don't want to send any more. I hope she is ok.

Edward is only just 7 months (a few days ago!) and though it is very early days for us with BLW, I have just given him exactly what everyone else is eating. So he's had cereal or toast at breakfast time, for lunch he's had part of a jacket potato with tuna, the curry yesterday and today some grilled salmon and bread. For tea he's had sausages, mash and baked beans, salmon (again!) with new potatoes, beef casserole with rice and grilled chicken with pasta. For snacks he's had toast, rice cakes, fruit, rusks

I don't want to put too much in it cos its for family IYKWIM? They know him already so its more of an outline. Don't want to offend them and have them thinking that I think they know nothing about him? Am I waffling yet?!

Shes only have him 1 day a week and maybe not every week. OH will have him the other two. They won't tell me if he crawls or walks!

Kindof - Benjamin was born on 14 March and I left him overnight on 4th June. My mum looked after him in my house whilst hubby and I went to a charity event.

Horses for courses. I would personally go mad if I never had a chance to escape LOL. I also think it does babba good to be in someone elses care for a while.

And grandparents deserve dedicated babba time imho ;-)

Thats how I feel, I need a break lol

And mam can't wait to watch him
