True I hadn't thought of it like that. Although I was thinking of the money as being to cover costs of things for the child or relating to the child rather than a drop in income.
I think the baby element of CTC was actually brought in due to the drop in income. I could be wrong though. I'm sure I read it somewhere anyway!

I rang the TC people this morning to check they'd got my forms and see where mine were as they usually come this week, I get my usual on Thursday and an extra one Friday because of my re-evalutation from the p60 amounts I sent in. Apparantly they owed me £400! I dont know how as because we are commission based I make a point of ringing them every 3 months and updating them with our expected incomes so we wont get overpaid :o

And CTC withdrawn at £40,000 instead of £50,000 - unfortunately that won't affect me! :rotfl:

That's us fooked then. OH's basic is static, but he can earn a bonus with the amount changing each month. Bonus amount will probably take us over the £40K. B0ll0cks.

Could he not be quite so good at work, so he doesn't earn over £39,999.99. :(

    That's because Weezl's a good girl. :p
So of all the people that use this forum, one person used it for what it was meant? Think that proves my point.

I remember being on the pg thread and people saying they were putting it towards prams, cots, car seats etc. I used it so that I could have a few more weeks on mat leave.

EA - that's Tahlie atm too, it's particularly dangerous when were having nappy free time lol.

On the subject on nappy free time what does everyone else do? Have been putting T on a disposable change mat under her play gym but now she moves about so much it's not ideal! Also going thru lots of change mats and there not cheap.

I just confine Erin to her normal change mat and pay with her there although in this weather you could just put her outside :) We also have one of those waterproof picnic mats which are good.

Also anyone any tips for tummy time, any longer than about 30 seconds and T hates it. If we could do more and she would get better holding her head then I'd feel more confident about her sleeping on her front.

Erin hated being on her front so I never bothered, doesn't seem to have affected her in any way. She gradually started sleeping on he side and now sleeps on her front. Also you get used to having a LO in the bed with you, I hardly notice Erin now and after all this time OH still hasn't rolled on her!

And one more Q while my brain is in overdrive, when did everyone LO starting shedding tears? I read yesterday it happens between birth and 4 months but T hasn't had any yet.

When Erin was 3 months I left my mum looking after Erin while I had a shower. My mum decided Erin needed a sleep so left her to cry  and we had our first real tears.

Have the munchies and want chocolate yet the only stuff we have in is OH toblerone for fathers day lol. Think I should get my but in gear and go to Tesco.

Has anything been said about childcare vouchers? I'm relying on those to be able to afford the nursery on our road, £60 a day

Don't get how their bonus works really and I don't think he does either. Goes on how the whole company performs and also the individual branches, so will be wanting everyone to perform !!!!!.

Phew! Have just text him to ask if he thinks he will earn £2*K with his bonus. (having deducted my salary from the £40K) he wreckons not.
So we may be ok, but will probably get reduced TC if they change the increments.

I didn't get it because they didn't have it when Alice was born but I would choose to eat healthily and would spend more if I thought it necessary regardless of whether the government gave me a grant. I believe though the actual purpose of it was to ensure people received antenatal care because not receiving it or delaying it is a risk factor. I imagine it could make a difference to people who were really that skint but aside from people who have got into debt in the past I find it hard to imagine how anyone could be that short that the money would make a difference and if they were that short of money that it could make a difference they would probably have higher priorities anyway.
