brednall, weezl recently had a baby less than 13 months after her first! And mel is due soon with her littlest boy being quite young. Also, i think pigpen might've had two of hers quite close together? Anyone else? :D
Tis true, they are 1 year and 12 days apart :)

For me it worked well (so far!) for a number of reasons:

pregnancy 2 over before baby 1 became too mobile
pregnancy 2 sicky stage whilst baby 1 still having 2 naps daily
baby 1 still under 24lb throughout PG2 so lifting not so hard
entirety of pregnancy on maternity leave apart from 7 weeks working
baby 1 too little to be affected by encumbered mummy, sicky/sleepy mummy, and then all of a sudden, baby there in the morning! (quick homebirth!)
    no jealousy/sibling rivalry
no concern over cards/gifts for new baby

    and

    Morning ladies.

My little girl is doing really well at 4 and a bit months old. She weighed 14lbs 7 ozs when she was weighed a couple of weeks ago.

I'm after a bit of advice really this morning. AS my husband is not getting any younger (he's 9 years older than me), we have discussed trying to grow our family sooner rather than later. Have any of you on here got children that are quite close together in age and has it worked for you? I've been trying to weigh it up in my own mind and I can argue both sides (ie waiting until our daughter is a bit older and also having 2 children close together) so no further down the line!

    Regards

    Emma

Hi Brednall, my LO is 14 weeks ( Where did that go??)
And we're are TTC for our second one. We want the two to be close in age so they will have similar things in common and can be friends.

My 2 brothers are a year apart and are best friends :D

Well we viewed the house, and i loved it. So we put a holding deposit on, and just hope we pass their credit check. Fingers crossed!

I dont think my college thing went well, i had to do an English and Maths assesment, and i didn't know some of the answers :(

Lily is being so 'talkative' lately, she has learnt loads of new (loud) sounds and keeps doing it over and over :p
  • Oi Weezlie :p I'm not your friend any more. You never come and see us :(

Do you bring us tales (and piccies) of your beautiful boys?

    Awww sulks :p

    tales?

erm..... Kessie is managing sometimes without a night feed :D (well he's managed 4 nights!)

and he seems not to be quite so screamy in the eves :)

Fergie's lovely. The HV is rather worried about his development though and has talked about referral to SALT due to lack of words/comprehension.

    So that's sad :(

He is very smiley and affectionate though :)

Hope that the fabulous gingerman is doing well too?

PS erm... putting 2 and 2 together from earlier up the page, does Kristal have news?

    Hello everyone,

How are we all? We had a goo dnight last night Sophie slept from 9pm until 5:15am, woke for a feed cried so came into bed with us til daddy went to work at 8am.
Well I rushed round yesterday and cleaned my living room etc for my friend to come round this morning with her baby boy only for her to cancel on me again, got a text at 9:30am to say she wasn't coming. She did this last week as well when we supposed to go to the library for storytime, cancelled at the last minute. So instead sophie napped while i did a couple of jobs and now she is napping again on my lap while i am my laptop.

    Yes Krystal has news ;)

Are you worried about his development Weezl? TBH if the HV recommended that I needed to get Benjamin's development checked out I would tell her where to go. I am so cross on your behalf (Mel has had a similar thing with Kai about his speech). If he was 3 and had no words then that would be one thing but he is 15 months !!!!!!.

Of course if you are worried then that is a different matter but I hate the fact that 'they' worry us so much when we know that all our babies develop at such different rates.

Gingerman is a joy as always - full of cuteness and mischief. I am taking him to see the HV tomorrow cos I am off work...and am ready for a fight if she dare suggest that he is anything other than a normal little boy!

    Yay for sleeping!

    Cancel the brat!

This is why I never babysit or offer lifts! OH thinks I'm a meany but no way I'm going to start planning out my days/life to suit other people!!
There was a girl at my work who lived in the same town and she was constantly looking at the rota saying 'oh if we were on the same shift that day I wouldn't have to get the bus'. I just said, 'oh whys that then'?!
Hee hee I have no shame!
:rotfl: I thought you were gonna say you put her on different shifts on purpose - that's what I'd do, I'm obviously the sly shifty kind and your just brazen :p

Bednall - I say go for it :D there are pros and cons to any age gap.
My boys are 2.5-ish yrs apart and I'm going for similar next time (hopefully!) I wanted that gap because it's the same as I have with my sister and we are very close friends now and I hope my boys will be close too but I did have to cope with rare daytime naps because Chris stopped having them when Edgar was tiny and we went through potty training while Ed was still BFing alot so we had a few times when I had to put Ed down and leave him crying while I cleaned up an accident/ wiped a dirty bottom. The good bits were that Chris was old enough to understand when I said I had to see to Edgar first on some occasions and the gap is enough that I've not had to buy 2 same stage carseats but not big enough for me to not need a double pram.
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.
