We got married on a Sunday. The children belong to DH's friends who live in England and Wales. The children would have had to take time off school. We did not specify "no children", but the invite was only addressed to the adults.

Clearly, we never had any children at the time but it didn't mean we didn't like children. If the parents could not have got a babysitter, and had said they were having trouble, we would have tried to accommodate them. If they said they didn't want to be friends with us anymore because we didn't invite their children, then it would not be our loss as in my opinion that would be a total overreaction and they couldn't have been very good friends in the first place if they could not respect our decision.

I can assure you all that if we had children at our wedding, they would have been well catered for and entertained as my dad is a magician/balloon modeller etc and does children's parties and entertains children at weddings! We just chose not to, and it was nothing personal to anyone we invited.

I am offended at the way people have jumped on this as if people who don't invite children are weird. Most of you who are against it clearly already had children/step children when you got married, so you couldn't exactly have a "no children" rule.

Tara - thanks for asking about Holly (missed this earlier due to my rage!). I did leave her to cry tonight again. It lasted 12 mins from when I left the room to her falling asleep. Well done to Maddy for taking more steps.

I love seeing kids enjoy themselves, I'm such a soppy old moo I cry at the sight of a happy child but I think weddings are for grown ups not children.

Glad Holly went down again Fitz. Maddy didn't settle well tonight but we do have odd nights when that happens, so don't get put off if it sometimes seems worse. She actually seems to go down better in the morning at the moment. I do seem to have a DD who teeths really badly. Do you read her a story or anything?
Too many children, too little time!!!

Good evening to one and all :D

Have caught the last few pages ... I firmly believe it is up to the bride and groom. Not sure if I would have had kids there if I didnt have Jasmine .... I never had to think about that, I was very young when I had her so had never given it much thought. I did have a roomful of kids at my wedding, specified on the invites to bring them, and they did run around, and they did get in peoples way, and they did hog the dancefloor, but every single person had fun ... and I danced witht hte kids for most of the night doing spins in my pretty dress :D

Anyway ... went to see Sex and the City 2 tonight ,..... unimpressed I think is the best discription of that I can give !!

tara im at work tomorrow which im not bothered as its suppose to rain here so meh ...

weddings like other things are subject to people opinions .. ive only ever to one and i wasnt invited to the actual wedding just the bit after .. im still in the weddings are overly much a waste of money as people get lost in the big dress and food rather then the reason they're suppose to get married .. but thats my opinion x
    :)Still searching .....:)

Well I'm bored of comping, and watching Dave play Lost on the Xbox... And I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally need to pee... So I'm off upstairs and I can't be bothered to come back down...

    Night all :)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
