Is there any mortgage lenders that don't use Experian at all? I have a default I'm sure that's not on Equifax. It also doesn't show on Noddle.

I am really confused by the different credit scores. Experian and equinox rate me good only a few points off excellent. However call credit I am rated 2 out of 5 the only thing I can think of is that my credit to earnings ratio is high. I am up to date with all my payments and my debt will be almost halved by October this year so this should improve my score? I can't see any errors on the report so if this isn't it I am confused.

The scores are irrelevant and not based on a lender's likelihood to lend to you, so inconsistencies are to be expected.
  • Yorkshire Building Society and Chelsea Building Society just use Equifax. Its stated on their website they only use them so that avoids the default on your experian file.

Another one to consider is Natwest, from what I understand they use equifax mainly for the full credit search but do use Experian for soft searches which shouldn't show your default.

The new Paypal facility 'Paypal Credit' that they re now offering to some, searches CallCredit only. Paypal credit is also used by Apple for credit purchases online.

In March 2012 I applied for a Natwest credit card and in my case full searches were carried out with both Experian and Equifax.

Only experts can understand the financial jargon CRA's use, so I don't see the need to subscribe to them.

    EE (Orange, T-Mobile)
    Search:
    Report: EX, EQ, CC
My EE appears in CC and EQ, but not in EX. Same situation with my wife. I have asked in the EE chat (as reliable as that may be), and they told me that they don't use EX.

The search appears only in EQ.

Edit: After shouting at Experian they found the EE account. So Experian first told me that no, EE told me that no... but EE definitively reports to Experian.
Our financial lives are in the hands of idiots.

    BANK CURRENT ACCOUNTS
    Marks & Spencer (HSBC)
    Search: EX, EQ
    Report:

    Reported to all three.
Did a *soft* search in Experian, and a hard search in Equifax.
