Free, when you commit to 12 month auto-renewing contract.0

If I decided to eventually go back to BT, is there a reconnection charge under these circumstance, or would they reconnect for free as long as I committed to a lengthy contract?
Reconnecting to BT is always at least a 12 month contract as for charges this depends on if O2 are using full LLU or BT wholesale
to provide the lines.
If O2 use full LLU (removed completely from BT network) then BT dont charge to reconnect as long as the line is working when you ask BT to take it over, If it is a stopped LLU then BT would charge to reconnect as an engineer would be required.
If they use BT wholesale WLR lines then it should be free to reconnect but depends how long the line has been inactive as after a while the line moves from stopped to ceased and thats when a connection charge applies.
I dont know yet if O2 are using LLU or WLR0 -
Free, when you commit to 12 month auto-renewing contract.
Since when ?
Only free if connecting a new BT line when you take a Calls, Broadband & TV package .
Or if your home has had a telephone service from BT in the recent past, and the wiring and socket is undamaged and the line still has a dial tone.
No requirement to take an auto renewing contract for line rental anyway.

I did too (post #2).
My turn for a rollocking now?
P.S. The reason for such posts is to point out to readers that there are aspects of O2's offering which are most certainly not in keeping with the aims of the site - money saving.
That's true - but surely the idea is to look at the pro's and con's alongside each other - not just to stress some minor negatives without highlighting the major positives - i.e. e.g. lower line rental than BT and Evening calls from 6pm.
I can't remember when / if I've needed to call an 0871 number, and I think the last 0844 was in the days before Broadband to get through to an ISP - saynoto0870 takes care of the odd one that might crop up.
I've signed up to their Broadband and Home Phone package, and with the same / better facilities than I had before (that I use / need) I'll be saving £15 per month against what was a well discounted deal from BT.0 -

If thats the case why dont any of these popular plans autorenew then.
The 18 month £29.99 connection offer ,with a choice of call bundles.
The Unlimited Weekend Standard Plan 12 month contract .
The Unlimited Anytime Standard Plan 12 month contract.

BT offer lower line rental by way of a credit.

How long do you think their calls will start at 6pm before they follow suit ?0 -
Our home phone provider is talktalk, been with them for about 5 years, talktalk is in the wifes name but have been paying anything between £20 £40 a month, god knows what package she signed up to but clearly not a very good one, before talktalk my wife was with BT who she now hates with a passion and has branded them useless when they couldn't break down a £90 phone bill, anyhow in these tough times i have convinced my wife to change, i hate talktalk as poor c/s and is expensive.
I have had o2 LLU broadband for a year now and i must say i have been very happy with my connection and customer service and never have to hold long, when i first found out o2 were doing home phone i was very interested.
I have now signed up to o2 home phone
The o2 anytime package is a great deal and i don't see why some people are already slating it,
£12.50 includes line rental, any-time service gives you any-time calls to uk landlines 24/7
600 mins a month to 0845/0870 numbers, whos going to be on the phone for 10 hours a month to an 0845/0870 number ? well we certainly wont,
International calls to some countries included
I know there is a fair usage policy so don't take the p*ss out of them
I have also opted for the £3.50 bolt on which includes caller id, call waiting and call barring, or just pick one of them for £1.75
So total bill = £16 a month for o2 home and that suits me fine, im also an o2 contract mobile customer and save an extra £5 on my top notch broadband which im now getting another 3 months free simply by agreeing to stay another 12 months, so yes im happy with o2 overall
Don't let other people put you off, we need more competition as bt/talktalk are useless, plus it makes sense to go with o2 since i already have bb and mobile with them0 -
I am moving into my first house (as a homeowner) next week.
I am currently with o2 for my mobile contract, most likely to go with o2 for my broadband too.
What will be my options for home phone? The way im looking at it, is thats its between BT and o2. Would I have to sign upto a 12 month contract straight away?
What are my options as a new homeowner? Im certain that the line is a BT line, will they give me say a month to decide what to do whilst using their line etc? Will they charge me a connection fee or reconnection fee if the old homeowners have terminated their deal etc:think:0 -
No, BT don't play. If you want to take over the line, they'll accept you as a customer subject to you agreeing to a 12 month contract for line rental.
Of course, a BT line gives you the most flexibility for choosing ADSL broadband - a BT line is accepted by all ISPs.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
