No, BT don't play. If you want to take over the line, they'll accept you as a customer subject to you agreeing to a 12 month contract for line rental.

Of course, a BT line gives you the most flexibility for choosing ADSL broadband - a BT line is accepted by all ISPs.

So upon moving in, if I want to go with o2 I just contact them and go through them.

Would I have to contact BT and notify them that this particular landline i dont want with BT and that im moving it to o2.

Whats the procedure I have to use so I don't find that I get shafted in someway!!

And does anyone know whether o2 allow you to use 18185 on their lines?

I am moving into my first house (as a homeowner) next week.

I am currently with o2 for my mobile contract, most likely to go with o2 for my broadband too.

What will be my options for home phone? The way im looking at it, is thats its between BT and o2. Would I have to sign upto a 12 month contract straight away?

What are my options as a new homeowner? Im certain that the line is a BT line, will they give me say a month to decide what to do whilst using their line etc? Will they charge me a connection fee or reconnection fee if the old homeowners have terminated their deal etc:think:

Go on O2 website or give them a call and ask what type of o2 broadband service they can offer in your area,

If they say they can offer you broadband LLU service which has speeds up to 20 meg down i would take that, i think they are also offering the first 3 months broadband free but you will sign into a 12 month contract, as your an o2 mobile customer you will have £5 discount of your broadband every month, so while siginging upto broadband with o2 the home phone deal is very good also

If O2 can only offer Access service then i wouldn't bother as i have heard its pretty poor so you may have to look at BT or another provider, but be warned, BT are not all what they are cracked up to be and customer service is awful.

In terms of bt connection line charges, no idea, i heard £140 for a BT line but another company can do it for around £80, cant remember who tho sorry.

I've already spoken to 02, they did a check on my new post code and said atleast 16meg bb, so thats a deffo ill go with them on that front.

I finally received a call from O2 offering to sign me up for the Home Phone service, having registered my interest some months ago. As an existing O2 Broadband customer, I was intending to sign up online, and hoping that Quidco might be offering some cashback on this.
However I can see no way to sign up online anywhere on the O2 website as yet-does anyone know differently?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I don't think you can sign up online yet, i phoned up o2 sales and ordered over the phone, the o2 chap said they haven't done any marketing yet for it but will be within the next month or so but he did say the product is ready tried and tested on o2 staff

my current provider is talktalk and the o2 guy said my line is ok to switch over no problems, he just asked me my current home number and confirmed im ok to get o2 home phone, i already have o2 LLU broadband so not sure if that has something to do with it, but to get o2 home phone you need to have o2 broadband already or sign up to broadband and home phone at same time

talktalk dont own the line anyhow do they, i pay my line rental to talktalk but all they do is rent it off BT?

can someone answer me this ?

if i have o2 b/band llu then this means that o2 have their own equipment at my local exchange and don't rely on bt lines, this is how i understood it

what line will my o2 home phone run on?

i remember the o2 chap saying you need a BT line

    I pay Bt LR/calls £16.53 (month 4+) & o2 BB £10.00 with free BT Privacy Caller Display / 1571

Maybe not worth the hassle of migrating the phone (when ok to do so) as well, only saving £4.03 or less if keep C.D etc.
Also lesson learnt after trying to crawl out the Tiscali/TT depths!!!!

    Q. How do o2 Home Phone add it to your o2 BB as normally it happens the other way round??

well the first home bill will go onto your broadband bill but depending on when your broadband bill is due you may not get your first home phone bill until the the month after you were connected to home phone, so your first home bill will be more expensive as you have to pay in advance, so your first bill will be 2 months worth aprox,

give o2 a call if your not sure

O2 were confusing as I was getting differing answers whether I could leap from Tiscali/TT straight to o2 home phone!

O2 did ring me up a couple of days ago asking me (a) If my o2 BB was ok and if (b) I wanted their home phone.

They may ring next March when my min BT contract is up.

    and for the record........
"If you've already got O2 Home Broadband it'll be added to your next broadband bill. If you've just bought home phone and broadband, you'll get your first bill around 5 days after your service goes live."
