O2 Home Phone. Warning .

I'm afraid I'm not a big fan of these cash back sites - too many stories of delayed payments etc - and prefer to deal direct with a retailer, as it's easier to sort out issues if anything goes wrong. I wasn't aware of the Metro offer - but you are rather overegging it - as everyone gets 3 months free, and the £15 bonus I refer to would be equivalent to a further 2 months free of the 8Mb service anyway.
I took advantage of the in-store offer to also get £20 off their Joggler, so I'm quite happy with what I've ended up with - and the fact it's saving me £15 per month over BT.
Fair enough & it's good you got the deal you wanted - and you're unlikely to regret signing to o2 Standard (though o2 Home Phone remains a new 'unknown') AND you also avoided needing to be in to receive your loaned o2 box by courier, but this is the "MoneySavingExpert" forum and the best advice for most people (at that time) would be to seek to blag the £70-£90 (unguaranteed) cashback online rather than search stores for a half-price box to save a sure £15
o2 has an excellent record of coming up with the £back, on Quidco & TopCashBack at least - albeit a potential £50 for new joiners today.

Both my O2 broadband and BT phone line contracts are reaching their ends next month and I was probably going to stick with the bb and add O2's telephone to the mix. But reading this has given me second thoughts.
If their engineer were to miss an appointment with me, could I charge them £130?
As Macman has alerted you it's a fairly standard charge, based on the Openreach charge to the Communications Provider - they tend to be around £123-£130, so I doubt if you could invoke the Unfair Contracts Terms Act to avoid it - though as you say I would expect to charge them back appropriately if THEY did fail to meet an appointment (eg for lost earnings etc).
NB: The deadline to cancel/rearrange an appointment seems to be 4pm of the day before based on my recent paperwork from the Post Office which I elected to move to for now, as my o2 Broadband contract is already half-way through its minimum term, and o2 Home Phone at list price didn't appear compelling enough at this time.

So...
I currently have O2 broadband (£7.50) by virtue of an O2 mobile on a PUFFL tariff.
My landline is currently BT with an "all calls" package but I'd like to xfer to O2 Anytime as it'll be cheaper.
What's the best way of doing this? Any cashback deals or discounts I can make use of?0 -
Just a quick note for anybody signing up, O2 will run a credit check when you apply for home phone. I just tried and was unfortunately declined even though I have the broadband and have a payment history with them.
Just thought I would post for those with less than perfect credit and also those careful about credit searches0
