I got one, tried it last night, works fine, can't fault it. Although, if your thinking of hooking it up to a computer the screen can be flickery, but for normal TV/Sky its all ok. Functions are very simple, maybe a bit too simple I was hoping for more options like resolutions change. One problem I have is, if I use a convertor from my sky box (scart) to svideo, it displays black&white, but if I connect (scart) ti yellow AV-in cable it comes out colour ok. The projector does get quite hot near the fan but I guess they all do this.I can still see the picture fine with my light on, I think is an ordinary 80watt b ulb, so unless you have very bright light pointing directly at the wall its fine. Of course turning the light off is much better.0

Hey guys,
I'm really interested in picking one of these babies up BUT I'm one of those people with a small room.
The max distance i could get the projector from the wall would be 10ft.
could someone do me a favour and put theirs at ten feet and let me know if it's still worth it? how big a picture am i going to get from this thing???
Thanks in advance,

Try this guide.
I'd imagine you'ld be sitting right under the projector with that distance?0 -
Hey,
Thanks so much for the calculator - very handy!
I'd be ending up with a diagonal of around 60 inches. It's obviously not fantastic, but I've got a very dark room so essentially id be getting a 60 inch tv for a lot cheaper than the 36inch lcd ive been looking at.
Hmmm.....definitely food for thought. I think I'll have to be a dag and actually stick a piece of paper up on the wall to get a sense of what id be getting for my money...
Thanks again!

for any one interested in a good screen a german company on ebay is selling remote controlled electric high quality 100 inch widescreen wall or ceiling mounted screens for £150 delivered.
You would not be able to buy a pull down screen for that price usually.
The seller has a 98.9 % excellent feed back rating and my order has been placed.
There is a huge thread about this on the avforums.
They seem a very good buy and the quality is supposed to be amazing for the money.0 -
can any one tell me what cables i need to run this im going to play off dvd player thanksWhat goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
Its just not worth paying £150 for a screen, for a £300 PJ. Total imbalance.
Use a blackout blind.
This PJ is only let down by the poor throw. MY PJ gives me an 80" screen from 10 foot, tho I actually have it 14 foot away giving me a 110"image
The best cable for DVD is definitely component, (not composite). You need to check your DVD player has component output firstly though. Also be aware that the PJ probably has no speakers? Therefore you would need to have speakers hooked up as well seperately (Unless your DVD is all in one)Be nice0 -
The replacement bulbs cost £250 each, and looking at some forums some have blown after about 800hours. Does anyone know if you can retro-fit bulb in Projector rather than use manufactuers exact one, I realise the bulb are a lot more techniclogy than standard bulbs, but surely someone has retro-fitted a commercial projector before?0

There are threads on AVForums about using non-standard bulbs, but you really do have very little chance of success.
IF you use the PJ for the right things the hours dont rack up. If you watch 3films a week, thats 6hours. 52 weeks a year means you used 350 odd hours.
PJ companies deliberately alter the bulb on every model to stop 3rd party companies from trying to set up a rival bulb manufacturing process. Its just not viable due to the low demand for them.
There is also an HP PJ for £300 odd on HotUKdeals at the mo. Havent checked the specs, but may be ok.Be nice0 -
Those that have bought this, or any projector for that matter, may find the following information about projector lamps useful:
http://projector.lifetips.com/subcat/75426/projector-lamp-tips/tips-to-make-your-projector-lamp-last/index.html
I don't have a projector myself, just found that page on the web and it sounds like good advice.
