Just ordered one as well. cheers to the op.

Does anyone know how much it is going to cost to be able to network this, so it works with my wireless network?

There was a wireless option when configuring the system, but it was a usb adaptor, so I assume putting it onbaord is not easy :

Dell TrueMobile 2300 boradband router can support up to 16 wireless users and is ideal for sharing broadband connectivity. Dell Truemobile wireless networking products support most cable & DSL modems. Dial up modems are supported.

Thanks Psybear I've been looking for a cheap one for my Mum for a while.

Just to mention a couple of things to compare this to the £320ish one with the TFT. The £320 machine does not come with speakers or modem which some of you may need/want.

Just got in from work and looked at this again and decided it's too good to miss, so I've ordered a second one for one of my colleagues at work.
This is definitely a misprice, so don't be too surprised if it doesn't come off though!
Also checked and it appears to be delivered with 1x256Mb memory chip, so upgrading the memory at a later date would be comparatively cheap and easy.
All I need now is to get my Index Photoprinter and a PCI graphics card and I've got a fantastic new PC for £250.:D

I have never bought a comuter before but am looking. Are Dell computers any good or would it be better the buy one off the high street. also if you had the choice would you buy a desktop or laptop?

Dell are a well known brand, but this is only a very basic PC, hence the price.

You would be better off going to a computer fair or the High street for a better deal.

    For computer fairs ....

A desktop will always be faster than any laptop.

A laptop is fine if you want to move the computer about a lot, or want use it in bed.

A desktop is best for speed and upgradability.

Just been poking about and for anyone interested you can buy exactly the same system through the Dell home & office site (E-value code 305-D02305) at an inclusive price of just £301.00!!
So buying this offer through the medium business site saves you £117.08 - GRAB IT WHILE YOU CAN!;)

Here is some advice for you talkshop. Take your handle name and replace the O with I and the P with T.

You will not be able to pick up a brand new system and monitor of similar spec any cheaper at a computerfair. You could not build a system and provide a monitor at this price. This is a misprice that is why it is so cheap

If you are looking for a good value basic pc and monitor go for for this deal louisejamison and hope they honour the price.

Maybe you you should replace your first T with a K in your name. :D

I have done tech support for Dell PC's and they are a real pain to upgrade, so I speak from experience.

As I said before, they are a very basic PC, but you would be better off with something better if you can afford it.
  • is it worth upgrading the processor on this .... i want to use it for a simple dtp machine ( t shirt design and vinyl cutting ) i have a bettter mchine for the corel etc
THESE ARE THE GOOD OLD DAYS ……

Presume this sort of advice means you now work for PCWorld!

If you don't need any more than this you don't need anything better whether you can afford it or not.
