Dell system for £185 incl. VAT

I phoned Dell again yesterday, determined to get some answers as to why I have had no contact from them (other than the first general email). I had an arguement with one of Dell's charming "customer services" witches, who would only say that my order was "being dealt with" and I should just wait for it to be delivered, yet could not give me an order confirmation or delivery date. I ended our conversation saying "so it will just turn up one day, will it, out of the blue? - I don't think so..."
...This morning, it turned up - out of the blue!"GOBSMACKED".
So, all you MSE-ers who haven't heard a dickie bird from Dell - just keep an eye out for a courier van.
Thanks again, Psybear, I've nominated you for the best post award and I hope eveyone who benifits from your post does likewise.
EdI love a nice juicy "kebab"...0 -
LOL ! You ringing the witch back to apologise ? !
I'm hoping for the 'repeat order' to turn up ! See what you lot have turned me into ?0 -
One of my "repeat" orders is flagged as "out for delivery" today, so presumably it could turn up any time this week.
Strangely I've not heard anything about the other two, but given arushofblood's email I expect these will just turn up totally out of the blue! You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
dunno if its been posted but 256mb is only 16 quid including delivery from dell

Flippin heck - I just paid £22 incl. delivery for a bit of Samsung memory off Ebay. Why didn't I check this site first?!!
Great post - think I'll order a stick anyway and pass the other one on.
However - the only memory stick I can find is a 256Mb 333 memory for a Dimension 2400, but this should work in the 3000 machine too shouldn't it? - Only one way to find out - I've just ordered one and now I just have to wait 7-10 days for confirmation of my order, then 5-7 days for delivery. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

I recieved my pc (£183) yesterday, and was quite happy, got home this evening and they have sent another(he,he).
I only ordered 1.so why have they sent 2.It mush be a gift?0 -
They will have sent you 2 PCs, but they will also have charged you for both! So it's not a free gift, but it certainly is cheap! Order one of the cheap 256Mb memory sticks and you get a machine with 512Mb of memory for less than £200.
I ordered one of these memory sticks earlier today and got the order confirmation PDF through pretty quickly - it showed the memory at £6 plus £8 postage plus £2.45 VAT - total £16.45. So I thought - MEMORY AT £6! and ordered 2 more to see what would happen.
A nice lady from India (who I could hardly hear because it was such a poor line) phoned me a couple of hours later to check that I had meant to place two different orders. I said yes, and got my second email confirmation through about a couple of hours later - but this time the two memory sticks are £17 plus £8 postage plus £4.38 VAT - total £29.38 (not £32.90 as I would have expected) So it looks like their system is not charging £6 per chip plus postage and VAT, but is using some funny calculation and they're only charging me £14.69 in total for each of the second chips! Fantastic - I only hope this works in my Dimension 3000, even though the website says its for the 2400 - but it's 333Mhz DDR non-ECC ram so it should be OK (fingers crossed). You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
That's what I thought! Strange that their website doesn't show this memory chip (or any memory chip for that matter) being available for the 3000 range. Still a great price though - less than £15 delivered. And my first order is already being prepared for shipping - estimated delivery date THURSDAY 24th! Amazing. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0
