Presumably if you opt for 2010 it's available only as a download? Any thoughts as to when the DVD is going to be available?
Anyone any experience of how quickly a 2007 DVD would arrive?0 -

We got our 2007 dvd less than a week after ordering, I believe. Might have been a couple of days, I can't recall.0 -

Yes. The Software4students early release of 2010 is the digital download. Of course, this does arrive as an ISO file so you do burn an actual DVD.
#Physical 2010 DVD will probably be available in June
The 2007 version usually arrives in 2-3 working days (all the ones for family I bought did). The upgrade is a download though you can opt to pay a small fee for a physical diskFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Hello again,
I originally had the trial version of this already installed on my laptop but bought the full version via the ultimate steal. I downloaded it via the email link but it asks for a product key when I try to use it. I have put in the one that came in the email but it keeps coming up as "product key incorrect". I don't know what I am doing wrong!
Can anyone shed any light on this please?

First thing is when entering the product key, do not add the hyphens (i.e '-'), just enter the digits as the hyphens will get added. The product key is 25 characters long.
Fully remove the trial as this is a common issue even if you think you have removed it, goto add/remove programs and check there.
Then run windows update to ensure that the latest version of Windows Genuine Advantage gets installed, then install office from the downloaded image from the link in the email.
If you do not get the option to enter a product key follow the instructions here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895456 to remove a previously recorded unsuccessful key
If the product key still gets refused after this then you will need to use the option to activate by telephone. Run the activation wizard and select 'activate by telephone'. This will connect you directly to a microsoft agent who will be able to allocate a new product key if necessary. Have all your purchase details to hand.
Let me know if you still have problems after this as it gets very technical to 'force' a product key acceptance, though it is possible.Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0 -
Thanks again to the OP, Bugeyed, for this post - and for all the follow-up advice and reassurance.
Thanks to you I now have at long last a reasonably priced complete Office, with Outlook. I knew these deals were available to parents of students, but had no idea they were available (legally) to other relatives as well.
Like many others, I'm sure, I was never prepared to pay £400 or so, but quite happy to pay around £50.
I ordered on Tuesday and the disks arrived today. Good service, no problems installing, and I am very grateful to you, Bugeyed, for pointing this out.0 -
I'd like to get this for my children. DD has a laptop but DS uses the home PC.
I am certain these ? will have been asked somewhere in the thread so please shout at me for repeating them or that my ? may be daft ( I am not very PC savy ).
We have 2007 already on home PC, must I remove this copy?
I want the prof version as it has publisher which DD uses at school. If we install will we loose previous documents made using the 2007 version?
Can we install on both lappy & PC or is it 1 per comp? Link has answered this ? 2 PC's so thats great for me
How easy is it to burn the download to a disc & which disc does one recommend?
Thanks for any replies. Need to buy this before deal expires/I forget whichever is soonest!0 -
Thanks bugeyed, I did what you suggested (removed the trial version) and it is working now!Virtual sealed pot challenge 2010 member #48~ £72.62:)£10,000 in 2010~ £1177.36/£10,000:D

Apologies if this has been answered already but I can only see a download option? How are people getting disks sent to them?
Edit: Just realised it's 07 disks.
Has anyone downloaded 2010 and burnt to disk themselves? I'm slighty concerned about the possibility of a corrupt download or an error whilst burning. I'm not sure what would happen then?Herman - MP for all!0 -

Ok - few points here
Generally when installing a higher version of Office than the one before, it is best to uninstall the old version. Uninstalling will not remove any documents or databases from your computer and any on your computer will be accessible by the new installation and by others if sent to them.
My preference for which version is to go for the 2010 Professional
Microsoft have full instructions on how to convert the download image to a DVD
If the download fails you can re-download
You have plenty of time now as the deal is constant and is technically no longer a grabbit as Software4students is now selling the 2010 Professional for that price permanentlyFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need.
