Sat 17th/Sun 18th April - What small DFW things have you done today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Right was up bright and early today thanks to OH going to work! Am going out to meet a friend for tea/cake at 10am so feel like I must do things first to justify it. Not very DFW I know but hey, we need treats so we don't splurge!

Today I have/will:-
-
[STRIKE]Check online banking[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Take pennies to Mr T's to change up[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Shower not bath[/STRIKE] just washed hair using shower
- [STRIKE]HC on line to dry[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Already been rejected for a survey based on my age and gender! lol[/STRIKE]
- All food from stores, [STRIKE]aside from a nice bit of cake in town![/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Shower for DD[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Hair trim for DD if I can find somewhere![/STRIKE] just trimmed her fringe myself, it's madly curly so can't get it wrong really!
- Step children here at 1pm, will go to the park today or tomorrow for free entertainment
-
[STRIKE]Hot water on for 20 minutes, this is JUST long enough to heat up a full tank of water[/STRIKE]

That's it for today, done most of my jobs etc so just keeping on top of things today! :)

Happy saturday ladies, hope you all get longer lie-ins that I did!

Jx

    Morning all.
I'm up too! No rose hangover for me - 2 glasses and I fell asleep!
Have to get on with lots of things today so writing them down will hopefully help me to get on with them.....
    • Write 3/4 lessons - have had a spurt of energy and done 2 already!
    • Take dog for haircut, not cheap but he needs it desperately
    • Go to Mr T's armed with a list for the weekly shop
    • Cleaning
    • Look at more job apps and make a list of the ones I'll tackle next - a load more jobs have just been released so not going to cry just yet!
    • Take money out of the bank for the week
    • Have a LSD apart from the shopping
    • Walk dog for free exercise (one done already)
    • Phone mum on free landline
    • Do at least one load of washing
That's it for today - have a lovely day.

    Morning all

Woohoo, just got my second star :D:D

I’ve been up since about 7.30 today, that’s super-early for me on a Saturday! Got a hospital appointment at 12 (first I’d heard that they did appointments on a Saturday) so wanted to get moving in plenty of time.

Enjoy your tea n cake Josie – ‘caf! life’ is one of the little pleasures I like to fit in now and then, just love people watching!

Good luck with the job search Rachel, soooo sorry you missed out yesterday.

    Here’s my list:
    • [STRIKE]
    • Quick shower
    • Check bank & update spreadsheet
    • Sneakily add a bit of water to the milk to make it go further
    • [/STRIKE] :p
    • [STRIKE]
    • HC & line dry – gorgeous weather here today again
    • Change the timer on the heating, I’ve been over-riding it this last week, so can definitely cut it back. It’s still a bit chilly here in the mornings and late evening.
    • [/STRIKE]
    • Take some pictures ready to ebay
    • [STRIKE]
    • Enter some comps (aim for 10)
    • Ironing
    • [/STRIKE]
    • Clean bedroom
    • [STRIKE]
    • Clear some (more) of the paperwork backlog
    • Buy some choccies – OHs birthday today
    • [/STRIKE] :D
    • Have a look for some writing comps that end in the next month or so. I want to get back into writing (something I really enjoy) and just reading about you lot with your uni assignments and essays has spurred me on
    • [STRIKE]Also did a couple of Onepoll surveys and added 25p to my account.[/STRIKE]
Might also do a bit of gardening later if I have the energy/motivation. It’s getting pretty desperate now. One of my shrubs is taking over one side of the garden. I’m not really sure what to do with it. Should I cut it back, or is it the wrong time of year to be doing this? You might’ve noticed I’m not very good at gardening! :o

Have a great day everyone, will pop back later to catch up.

    Morning all,

    Today I will:
*do some uni work (only 3 weekends to do it in) I agree with the other poster that studying is MSE to secure income so am happy to put it here.
*do some washing and hang on line
    *adjust timer on central heating

I might look for a hedge trimmer today or tomorrow but I need not to make it a shopping trip that wastes potential study time.

    ETA:
    * I have made OH cancel the installments he agreed to pay his car insurance by (APR was 37-odd percent ) and pay it in one lump instead. Much harder on our finances this month but saves us around £60!
Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.
