You will get straight - a few more months in the grand scheme of things isn't too bad. Think back to those long hours when you hardly saw your family - it has to be worth a little longer to straighten the debts rather than wear yourself out.
You have found a new job - got renewed plans and refound yourself and family. You will get back on track
Job sounds promising.
When is dd's birthday party - bet she'll love it.
Take care and enjoy the job

Thanks Milann - you are right - it is just a bit disappointing. I do have a balance transfer offer somewhere that I can use up to the 28th April... may be worth doing....
I am finally at my real base today so that should be interesting but am in a really long meeting. I am also going to have to stop off somewhere to get change so I can park. I am dropping DD off at school first so no time to walk....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I'm looking forward to the time when I can be really 'grown up' and pay my car insurance from a savings account that i've paid into monthly over the year.......that really would be a first!
Hope today was a good day.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

hi 365 and Chrisblue
I can relate to both of you!
I did get some good news today. Apparently I get paid 2 weeks in advance and 2 in arrears so first wages should be good.
I seem to be doing okay at work so far and everyone is still really open and friendly so hopefully every thing should be okay. Was home for 6 today including picking up DD despite leaving work at 5.25pm!
Want to try and get in earlier tomorrow if I can so can leave earlier! If I don't make it up in time - I may decide to work a slightly short day and make the time up next week!
Hope you are all doing okay.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi savingholmes
On the mileage rate for business use, you may find your tax code goes down, mine just has - now paying extra £180.00 a year tax...

hi chris - I assumed they would just tax the extra - I know it will be taxable but they can't just tax me more than they should!
Also found out today I have to join the pension scheme and won't get a refund. Probably a good thing... need some savings for retirementAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Glad its going ok and the hours seem to suit.
your travel shouldn't affect your tax code, its just taxable so should be deducted at source.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

thanks gill - just need to cut down my fritter spend, take my lunches and things like that....
I need to work out what I do want for my birthday and make sure it isn't going to blow the budget totally! Luckily I will have been paid a few days before but as I say finances are due to be tight until around July!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
