Funnily enough I thought that he might be ex-army reminded me of a drill seargant.... Recommended him to OH :rotfl:for his induction :rotfl:

A swimming woggle - is a 3ft or so long rounded piece of thin foam that help the kids get more confident in the water...

    Good afternoon,

many fitness instructors are ex-army - at least the good ones are. Some have never been to the army but wanted to - these are the ones to watch:rotfl:.

Keep the good work in the gym, though - it pays off. I thought all my marathon running will pay off and it did - last time I was late for a flight my level of fitness came in very handy. My problem is that I am fit but still rather heavy (exercise fine; food - a different story).

hi firewalker - nice of you to join me!

I think the guy was fair enough really. Quite pleased as he suggested a review in 4 weeks, and then I can have a free review every 6-8 weeks which I think is pretty good. Planning to go to the gym later today to see how much of the programme I can do... DD also wants to swim tho so hopefully OH will stay with her while I do my programme and then perhaps we can swap. DS can do the gym and swimming more independently which is good!

Just had a gorgeous dinner of grilled chicken (with nutmeg and aromat) roast potatoes, carrots and peas, mushrooms, onions and gravy... Also dug out a frozen choc pudding which we are also now having with ice cream!

My tada list so far today
    • Got up etc
    • Went to church
    • Practiced songs - then sang at the front
    • Chatted to friends
    • Came home avoiding play dates!!
    • Got DS to empty 2 bins, and the dishwasher
    • Repacked dishwasher
    • Put a load of washing in
    • Put stuff in the drier
    • Cooked dinner
    • Now relaxing on the settee for a bit before going to the gym!!
Oh and I won £5!:j:j:j:j on one of my free scratches and 50p on another so with double scratches etc up about £6 for 5 mins of effort!

We were given some "new to us" chairs this weekend which shock horror actually MATCH our kitchen table :rotfl:We have beech (or lighter) coloured table and had dark chairs with them which annoyed my MIL every time she came round. So she nicked these off BIL for us :money:They take up less room too! Now just need to decide what to do with the old chairs... I am reluctant to give them all away - 4 are good quality, the others are "iffy"... May see if anyone on freecycle wants them...

I only went and fetched the "new" chairs after being motivated by MemoryGirl's thread and her references to shabby chic! It made me step back and think about what else we could do at low cost to improve our surroundings....

Next she will have me painting our ensuite (I already have the paint - and started it months ago:o:eek:) and the bathroom (ditto above:o)... Not this weekend tho!:rotfl:The gym is enough of a new addition to our diaries/routine right now!

  • Well done on the fitness regime, you should be proud of yourselves.

None of the furniture in my house matches, so now I think if I buy new, it will just look out of place. My mum has a chair that my gran gave to numerous family when they first set up home, it was once part of a set of 10, the rest have long since been dispersed. When Mum got it, it had 15 layers of paint, as the 'in' thing in the 70's was to paint your furniture, so many of the cousins who had the chair did just that.

  • Hi SH
I applaud your gym efforts, it is on my want to do list. I know excercise makes the mind and body feel better, I could do with a bit of that.

Hope return to school/work goes easy, just getting back into the routine here.

    hi DC

Thanks! Didn't make it to the gym tonight as OH went out!

Work was okay.... I thought I had made a big mistake just before I went on leave but luckily when I read my email - I was in the clear... Just demonstrates how easy it is to worry over nothing!

Had sausages, mash and beans for tea - about £1 a head...

Not much of a tada list today.... Need to pack the dishwasher again! DS has unpacked it once....

Need to empty the washing machine and get the stuff dry...

Sounds like you made great use of your time off!
I've been reading lots about shabby chic and upcyling on here too. Very inspiring! I now have several ideas for repurposing old clothes, duvet covers etc!
