Learning to live my dreams not trample on them

Hi - have dug out the info on my insurance - its possibly still listed as the wrong address so hope that doesn't cause problems!! But I bank with my insurer and have a mortgage with them so if it does - surely they have a responsibility too in that.... Let's hope there isn't a problem as my claim will be for approx £600 - I have slightly more cover than I knew about.... But its has the wrong mortgage number listed and a previous address!!! TBH tho if they tried to claim that I would point out they have been sending bank statements to my current address for years and my current mortgage is with them so how can they not know?! A little worried now... and been holding about 20 mins already!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just got thro - they were fine about the address being wrong - I now have a claim form so hopefully within a month say I should get around £600 which will only have left me a couple of hundred quid short compared to what I would have been paid if I hadn't been off sick which is fab! It's about £100 more than I thought it was !Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi FB - in a nutshell - We're a family of 4 - we are not in debt crisis but still have debts which will gradually be paid off. The "learning not to trample my dreams" bit refers in part to the fact that I've wanted to set up my business for about 10 years and I am finally doing it.... Our overspending and debts have in the past got in the way of it - and sabotaged our dreams.
We could have cleared our CC debt this year - but because of an operation, time off sick and desired business launch we just transferred it to a 0% card and took a 3% hit - which means it will have cost us £165 or something not to be debt free already - but it reduces the stress level considerably! Our savings are earning us around 3% anyway (and we have approx £4K in savings versus approx £5.6K CC 0% debt plus approx £5.8K student loan paid off at £100pcm direct out of OH's wages only 1.5% so no pressure)
Bigger worry is approx £151K mortgage currently 1.45% apr but interest only - no repayment element and no repayment vehicle!
I have tried to get more in control of spending recently and can see the difference. I am also doing the £10 a day challenge and have started my christmas shopping
Today we are hosting a little tea party for DS's friend. Her parents said they couldn't afford a party for her so DS and another friend said they would give her a party instead... So DS suddenly piped up today - could it be tonight or tomorrow - so we have ended up doing that tonight. Her parents have in practice provided lots of high quality food - it just feels weird to host someone else's kids party. I would have happily funded it - just got cheap pizza etc - but parents have spent a fortune compared to what I would have done which is nice for the birthday girl but I just don't get why her parents couldn't have either a) done it or b) paid for them to go Pizza Hut or bowling or something as I can't believe it would have cost any more...
The kids have had a nice time - partly outside with the fire pit and partly with watching Dr Who LOL! TBH I am glad to know where my kids are and am amused that DS has 3 girls in the backgarden and his 2 mates that were also supposed to come cried off.... leaving him the only boy. Its good experience for him - I wonder how much longer the "innocence" and freedom of it will last. I will be pleased tho if he continues to be confident enough to spend time with people he gets on with regardless of the views of his peers...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I watched "Eat Pray Love" yesterday - I think what I took from the film was that:
- we need to learn from each other all the time
- let go of past mistakes and think positive thoughts of light and love about things and people that hurt or upset us
- be nicer to ourselves and more accepting in terms of what we eat, wear, body size etc
- allow time for spirituality and quietening our minds
- not to be afraid of love and relationships with others
Seriously - it was a very serious film, and bits were irritating but there were some class lines in there but I wouldn't want to spoil them for you !:rotfl:
The kids are still here - DS is campaigning for them to stay longer, but I've had 1 since 4pm and the rest since about 6pm so in all honesty.... I'd be happy for them to go home... Having said that they are currently out in the garden with the fire pit so not disturbing me so win:win not really a problem  I'm just relieved DS has unglued himself from his computer and is being more social!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well I took the kids home around 11pm last night. The birthday girl has come back today to help DS tidy up and brought me some lovely choccies... I may stick some of them in a couple of small jars ready for xmas :money:to reduce the temptation to scoff the lot LOL:rotfl:!
I forgot DD had a party this afternoon so let a friend from church come back with her to play for a bit. (luckily we bought the pressie yesterday £5 for about £12 worth of pressie from Home Bargain:money: - put it this way both DS and DD wanted the item I bought for £3 that had been £10 RRP). Got DD to wrap the pressie - and let DD and her friend make a card each with a little set I had - they enjoyed that. I fed the two girls fish fingers, micro chips and beans.
OH has had to drop DD at party at 4pm and take DD's other friend home. OH, DS and I have had a gorgeous lamb roast dinner with home made roasties (it was ready about an hour after the girls had eaten - shame :rotfl:). We'd had the lamb in the freezer since about April LOL since I am trying to reduce my grocery spend felt I should use it up... :money:The only reason we ate it :rotfl:LOL Yummy. There is one portion left and OH and I are fighting over it...:D
I've also made some soup this afternoon which we can have for tea tonight and then another time. May freeze it if I think we won't eat it quickly enough.
It has- carrots
- 3 chunks of frozen spinach
- onions
- 2 small butternut squashes
- leeks
- cabbage
- few squeezes of tomato sauce - to taste
- sesame seeds
- some stock pots - to taste
- water
- losalt - to taste
- pinch of mixed herbs
I tried a load of clothes (from my wardrobe) on last night - most of which don't really fit me (too small) so that is a little worrying. I've got my new dress hung up to dry so that should be okay for tomorrow. I probably have about 3 or 4 outfits I can wear to work - will just need to wash them frequently I think at this rate - in the hope I shrink back down. I find waistbands uncomfy at the moment just being post op without them being too tight... Some of the clothes I've bought to recover in aren't really suitable for work - too low cut :rotfl:or too short :rotfl:but some of them were £7 or £9 each so okay for what I needed right then.:rotfl:
I did buy some stuff from M&S yesterday - but it came to £88  (skirt, top and shoes) and from OH and the kids reaction - didn't have the wow factor  so think will just take it back and get my money back. :money: Slightly tempted to get another dress @ £21 cheaper than the M&S stuff that didn't look as good. I bought a couple of recipe books from the works the other day - but I've had a little look thro and thinking of taking those back too as I don't think I'd ever actually cook them - if I did that would be another £4 back and as we know it does all add up :money:
Well off to try and make my house a little straighter before work tomorrow... It is always scary going back when you've had a break... It should be fine tho as I work in a lovely team. :cool:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks Milann - it should be okay - I reckon it will take half an hour just to get into my laptop LOL by the time they've reset encrypted password etc. I am meeting a friend for coffee and will sit near her so hopefully that will ease me in too....
I now have DS and his friend singing xfactor songs using the wii - both good.... future popstars? I'm trying to persuade DS to sing in public - and if he does I would consider paying for singing lessons for him but if he is unwilling to take the risk then I'm not willing to invest the money if that makes sense.
