Did the Leadership debate change your mind?

I've already read one poster this morning saying that she'd decided to definitely vote Lib Dem after Nick's stellar performance last night.

Anyone else had their views changed (or confirmed) by last night's debate?

Nope, no complete 'u' turn in my fundamental political principals following ninety minutes of well rehearsed debate on matters excluding the economy or foreign policy over here.

    I had my view confirmed.

Winning the next election will be a poisoned chalice.

Labour could end up with most seats, a lower overall share of the votes and a weak coalition. Pity the PM who's got to preside over an austere 5 years of public spending cuts with that scenario - I think they will be a very unpopular government and the spinmeisters will certainly earn their keep!

Blacklight, how can you say it excluded the economy? They debated the budget deficit. I think I'd call that talking about the economy.

carolt, your polls always have very narrow options.

I would say I found it interesting, and it perhaps changed and challenged some opinions, made me more curious about some things. It confirmed some views of course.

My vote will be the same at this stage, BUT, that doesn't mean it didn't make any difference at all.

I was really referring to the fact that the economic debate is still to be had, as is the one on foreign policy :)

What I just can't understand is how anyone's vote can be changed overnight becuase of what one person promises them on the TV.

'I've always had very strong right wing opinions on taxation but after 90 minutes I was cured and now I'm a communist'

TBF, polls have to have a narrow range of options. (Esp if they're posted by me and I want to avoid the risk of cocking them up too badly. :)) The comments are there to expand upon the (simplified) ideas presented.

Hasn't changed my opinions, but has opened my mind somewhat.

Going to watch the other 2, as I think Clegg will suffer in the next one. He has had his chance to shine and has done so, but the other 2 will have picked up on this.

Blacklight, how did your prediction that 'Dave' will be in his element and wipe the floor with the others work out? He managed to look even more lightweight than he really is.
  • it changed my mind. i thought Brown was bad, but he is awful.

clegg has it incredibly easy - as cameron said to him "we'd love to give everyone 10k tax free, we'd love to cut 17bn off taxes but we can't afford it"

clegg's main policy is to do away with our nuclear deterrant. brilliant.

I found him to be annoying, like a wasp at a picnic. he did ok, but kept saying the same thing, and it made no sense.
