Loving the sound of the party 😀! Will you be doing party games too? Musical statues is definitely Covid-friendly, although adults are probably better at it than kids (dependent on alcohol consumption 🤣) - could take a while!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!5 -
No musical statues 😆 it went well, it was only a lunchtime do and his dad cried off at the last minute with a bad back 🙄 I did spent a silly amount of time making food, including making animal shaped pizzas with cookie cutters which were surprisingly popular. One bonus was my new platters arrived so I used those, they won’t be Xmas presents then as they are already looking good in the kitchen 😬
Meeting great aunt for coffee tomorrow, who may be having to put uncle into respite when he leaves hospital as her flat can’t accommodate equipment he now needs, she’s very down poor thing. Also taking mum who refused to come last time as she’s not going out unless she has to, and this time Is insisting on me driving her while wearing masks rather than taking her own car 🤦🏼♀️Mortgage interview Thursday to extend the term if we can, at this point in time I do believe anything is possible now, I wonder what we do if we need to clear £72k in under two years after losing almost half our income 😱😱😱MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
I wonder if not going out for so long has impacted your mum’s confidence in driving/just being out? That might be why she wants you to drive? (She may be putting on a brave face and you’d never know)
I’m sure if you had to find £72k in 2 years you’d find a way! Sell the kids?! 😉The party sounds fab... but what about the business plan? Or are animal shaped pizzas part of it? 😉Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hi sc, not sure I could clear £72k in two years when we earn virtually a third of that 😆
You could be right Vix, she’s not been out much at all. Re the business plan, I’ve decided to stop planning and just get on with selling something or I’ll procrastinate and never get started. The whole point of Etsy was it was minimal fuss and outlay. Today I’ve decided on a name, set up a gmail account for it and opened an Etsy shop ready, plus I’ve bought a domain name to match for 99p, although I might need dds help for what to do with that 😆 Will get a few sample products made up and list them soon, I’ve a rough idea on pricing.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
That's so exciting NG! I'm so pleased that you've jumped into it. Remember to keep track of all of the expenses, even if it is just highlighting the relevant lines on the bank statement.
Sorry to hear about your uncle. Also sorry to hear that your aunt is feeling down about it, it's such a horrible situation.
Good luck for your mortgage interview tomorrow! I have my fingers crossed for you.6 -
Fab progress NG!!Not something to worry about yet, but don’t forget to register with Hmrc as self employed at some point (easy online form now I think). Looking forward to having a nose when you’ve got stuff listed!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Very quick mortgage interview finished now, he didn’t even do much of it as there was no point in going through it without checking with the underwriters first as they don’t like the word “redundancy” 😱 after half an hour I got a callback saying, it’s not a no forever but a no right now. Although we pass affordability and they can see years worth of regular overpayments, and we have £25k odd in the offset (not earmarked for the mortgage) it would be risky to lend to us as we may not be able to afford the £290 pm repayment. We have a two year term left owing £72k but it’s more risky to up it to 25 odd years 😡
So now we need to spend a few months proving we can afford to pay £290 a month and send them copies of all our bank statements so we can prove the bills are getting paid. He also wanted to know what I plan to do in the future, what I did in my last job in detail, everything but my bra size basically.I know things have changed but we pass affordability on just dhs salary alone anyway?!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7
