Thanks Vix, not much was done as I was driving dd to work and back, visiting mum and aunt as aunt decided to come over for only the second time in lockdown, then ds2 and girlfriend and then dds boyfriend turned up to do washing as their machine is broken, so I was chatting with them. Too many distractions, but I’ll need to find a way around that I guess!Up super early today again and other than a visit to the shops with dd then whole day is free, first day of working from home then 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7

I totally get that and it must be harder when you’re transitioning from working outside of the home *and* there are people around all the time. Self-discipline and quiet space are essential! Good luck for today!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

It’s one large room downstairs bar the kitchen which has nowhere to sit, so daytime is better Vix.Great day yesterday, ds1 came to the shops with dd and I (very rare!) so I bought them lunch out too, outside at prezz@, £25 plus change for a drink each , two starters and three mains. It’s was busy though after we arrived there were longer queues at the restaurants that were open. Personal spends has taken a hit already for august!Research started now, I’ve bought a “back to school” as dd calls it kit from £1land 😆 surely highlighters and a unicorn pencil case are essential to business planning?! Anyway, the more I delve into it the more I feel I’m better starting with the stationary side of things rather than the jewellery which anybody can do more easily and is a very saturated market. Plus hopefully smaller set up costs involved.Dh is still up at 5am each day , but instead of going straight to work he’s watching tv for a bit downstairs, he’s also leaving work on time not four hours late. So their 20% pay cut has probably resulted in a more than 20% reduction in his hours, this seems pretty fair to me, how long he sticks with this who knows though.£1 op made as a tiny gesture 😂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁8

getting ideas and getting started are often the hardest parts. good luck
glad DH is at last thinking of himself in this. His past efforts should have been recognised fully.Mortgage restart June 2018 £119950Re mortgage August 19 £110470, … Mortgage November 22 £85600 final 0% CC 3300Home renovations - £65000, mid 2018 - mid 20228 -
Thanks mfd’s 🙂
Well I rang the building society today, we need to extend the term and go repayment, I thought I’d query borrowing more to (ahem) get some work done on the house in the future. We are however at the limit of our borrowing at £72k already 😱 This is a big shock I have to say! We have low living costs and no debt except a zero % cc that I have the cash to clear so it wasn’t listed. A couple of years ago we were offered £230k, on a higher wage obviously but not to warrant that difference.I have another appointment in a couple of weeks to apply for the change of term and switch to repayment, fingers crossed for that, I’m taking nothing for granted now 🙄MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
Did they take into account you business premises loan, and your loss of income? That will reduce the amount. My ccs last year reduced my capacity for my new mortgage. Thankfully I had enough and last years work was done. Good luck with the application. It does make sense for them to accommodate needs to prevent hardshipMortgage restart June 2018 £119950Re mortgage August 19 £110470, … Mortgage November 22 £85600 final 0% CC 3300Home renovations - £65000, mid 2018 - mid 20225

Morning mfd’s, they don’t take any business stuff into account as it’s not in dhs name but a company name, I did ask. I was expecting a drop in borrowing capacity but it’s about £50k less than the online calculators including their own which I filled out with the same info. It doesn’t really matter I just wanted to know if that was a possibility really. I’m just wondering if it’s a one off or an all over reduction in lending currently.
Busy week this week, I did go to the cinema yesterday with both boys and ds2’s girlfriend, it was fine as we went to their biggest screen and there were about ten people there miles away as we sat near the front, I think we will start going regularly again now as it felt ok. Today I’m meeting best friend for a coffee and wander round the shops.
Reaeasrch is going ok with the start my own business project, I’m pretty sure I’ll not need as much as I was thinking to start up with the change of products which is good, I’m hoping that a few hundred might be enough finders crossed!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
Phew it’s hot again here! Met up with the guys from work yesterday including the older lady that’s going to be leaving ( not that they have told her yet) and had a good long chat with her about everything so she’s up to speed, they can’t be relied upon with much. We then met all the boys at the pub round the corner and sat in the garden for a few hours.Today we visited the in-laws first thing, I suggested the possibility of a retirement flat near us, they sold last year to move to Lincoln but changed their minds, but he is having none of it now. Such as shame as he’s getting more difficult with the dementia and it would be so much better for her.
I’m desperate for a takeout tonight, we have had one £70 odd shop in the last two and a half weeks, we don’t have anything appealing in and it’s hot. However I have bitten the bullet and made pizza dough 😇 I got so far as filling my dominoes basket with what I wanted so it was a close call 😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
