Hi vix, thanks 🙂 it’s early days as he’s only recently diagnosed and they have no support, I’ve tried taking to her yesterday about us getting some help via the council, and charities, even if it’s just to help give her advice, he’s always been the man of the house and that’s part of the problem as he won’t listen to her.I think we will only hear track and trace if she’s positive, the rules say she shouldn’t need a test unless there are symptoms and nobody she has seen needs to isolate. We are going overboard here though and the kids have cancelled their plans to meet people, better safe than sorry!Re the car, it’s one of my dads tenants that’s doing the repairs (gearbox related I think) and they are cheap so not worth shopping around really, letting dh loose would be a worry but letting the kids loose would really be terrifying 😂 I wish we could sell it but it’s still in my dads name and insured and taxed for the next year so will leave it that long at least, perhaps the situation will be clearer by then!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3

Today has seen a little success 🙂
I’ve run through all the direct debits I thought couldn’t be reduced and squeezed them a little more. For many people ours is still a very frivolous budget due to the tv and cinema subscriptions. I’m still aiming to keep these as we all use them so much 🙄 Dh and I also never really eat and drink out now except for the odd coffee. So savings made today :
Sky £91 down to £76 - still loads I know but it’s landline, the fastest broadband with boost, Netflix family pack (meaning five can use instead of one) multi room for the loft (we can’t get a signal even after a new Ariel) and the cheapest basic package as we have to have one to get the other stuff! We were tied in on a discount with some elements already.I’ve also got a reduced mobile sim contract from them 1GB and unlimited texts and minutes I think for £5 pm saving £4.40 on my virgin sim.I’ve switched my fairly recently switched gas and electric to a 100% green company (so energy) saving £3.53 pm
I’ve knocked dhs allowance from £90 plus £18.40 cineworld pass to £100 all in and it’s up to him if he wants to cancel 😆 This is sadly his diesel budget too poor thing! We are almost into the realms of being able to achieve all this if he can hang on to his job for a while longer! We are going like the clappers to put everything towards the factory mortgage, if we use the zero cc money that’s offset we will be paid off in June, if not (it’s £5k) around October next year. Its a long time to keep your job but we will give it a go 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
Still no result for best friends test yet, hubby and one child all clear and smallest one positive 😱 fingers crossed. Dh and I did go to the woods for a walk today but not near anyone just incase. Two smaller shops done today for tomorrow, one Iceland delivery as they had £5 off a £40 spend and a slot for free delivery tomorrow, £36.62 spent and a Tesco collection tomorrow night for the first time, £42.42 after using £14 of unexpectedly found club card vouchers, plus I put a £17 litre of vodka in there for a Xmas present (uncle) so will take that from the Xmas budget , so £25.42 really, should have £82 left for the last shop of July now which is good even if we do need two birthday cakes this week 🙂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5

Good luck with the test Vix, dds boyfriend has had one and said it’s fine 🙂
All birthday shopping finished online for the boys’ birthdays this Friday, a couple of games and bits and bobs as we are paying for their Alton towers tickets as well. Xmas/birthday pot is healthier than it should be as I’ve not taken everything out each time I’ve bought things. I’ve decided to keep £150 there as a food and drink Xmas budget. I think that’s pretty good, it’s won’t be champagne this year but Prosecco 😁 we are hosting this year so they will all have to like it or lump it! Last year my parents had eight and the biggest piece of beef I’ve ever seen, large turkey, goose and ham and three didn’t eat meat! 🤦🏼♀️ The beef was probably most of my Xmas budget 😁 We could have between 12-15 I should think this year so it will be a bit more frugal 🙄So there is still a surplus, so I’m putting a but in the pot for Alton towers as we only have a tiny amount, the rest I’m going to op as it is only £6.57 It makes a change to have more money than I thought and not less.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6
