What awful neighbours! Anyway, a weed is only a plant in the wrong place, so those in the front garden are in the right place! 😀
If you're after a decent clothes rail that's not too big, I have this one from argos , NG and it's really quite sturdy and good for the price. Argos Home Open Hallway Unit with Rail & Shelves - Black472/1103
Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!4 -
Hi Vix, the £100 was intended to be stretched over two meals 😆 probably a bit optimistic though! I used to do shop and scan years but gave up as you had to scan everything individually which took forever, is it still the same?Hi jessy, I’ve just looked that up and it looks good but I will need to check the height of our gap as it might be too tall. Re the neighbours as they are up for sale dd suggested we could pop up some tacky Xmas decks outside on the bay window roof and perhaps an old washing machine 😂 I’ll probably just weed the front garden though but leave it a couple of weeks first 😉MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4

Hi NG Just a recommendation on the clothes rail. I'm not a massive fan of Wayfair generally but we ordered a Swann rail through them when we moved in and it's really solid.

Hi hazelnutty, thanks I’ll have a look I might give repairing it with packing tape a go although I doubt it will work.
Just had a check on the gov website to see if I can get any benefits and as expected we can’t even if we had no savings, worth wasting five minutes to make sure though 😁
Been a bit fed up lately so I think it’s time for a bit more positivity! I’m wasting too much time being angry about how we are being treated at work and worrying about what might happen. There is only so much you can plan for and second guess. I’m going to keep looking for jobs but at the same time try and enjoy life a bit too 😬
I have a lot of money saving skills that I’ve picked up over the years, I need to bring back some of the things I used to enjoy doing when at home on a low budget. I might leave the home brewing now but perhaps a visit to the old style boards would help. Feeling in control of the house and keeping active can only help at the moment.
Anyway off to take dd on her first day in her new job as her contract finally came through 🙂

Good luck to DD for today!
S&S still requires you to scan everything individually, but we don’t find it takes more than a couple of minutes, even on a big shop. We’re also on their food on the go, tv and petrol panels and the rewards really stack up - well over £100 of vouchers a year. Feel it’s worth it as it adds up - we’ve been doing it since before we were married (separate households - it was a wrench when we had to go down to one set of rewards!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I scanned my big shops but not all my top up shops.
You must have a lap top or PC to join shop and scan in order to upload the data from the scanner. I have had to leave the panel because my laptop broke and I can't down load their link on to my work laptop due to restrictions. You would think they would have an app that you could scan and upload on your phone but unfortunately not.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Yes, I don't remember to scan everything either, especially non-food stuff.
I also find it bizarre that they haven't updated the barcode books in years, which have a very small selection of fresh fruit and veg (certainly compared to a veg box delivery) and some limited options for shops too.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
