Wrap a tea towel round the bottle as you're pouring (like in a fancy restaurant) and no-one will ever know 😀!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!6 -
Not a bad suggestion, however they would notice as they are quite good at drinking champagne 😆
I thought I had more surplus cash than I did earlier, I’ve adjusted the figures and made a small op with what was left, its annoying but I forgot to allow for a takeaway for the kids birthdays.Counted up all the £2 coins and cash about the house and will pay that into the bank next week, it’s helped add to the Xmas extra by £60 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
I think I wouldn’t worry too much about Christmas yet, NG, in terms of what you’ll be eating/who you’ll be hosting - whatever Boris says, it may all change again by then and financially you may need to ask people to bring stuff - and if they’re not prepared to do that because ‘it’s your turn to host’, then I’d be uninviting them, whether family or not!! Keeping up appearances can only go so far, people have got to realise that yours (and everyone else’s) position has changed. They should count themselves lucky it’s not fizzy water!! 😂

Fizzy water would not go down well 😆 I get your point, they are pretty good though and will bring posh stuff they want to drink usually so it’s fine, my kids will get the Prosecco 😉 I’m a bit christmas mad at the best of times Vix so I think it’s just a distraction to cheer me up at the moment if I’m honest!I might order a few Xmas presents from the perfume shop today, they have a sale plus 15/20% off over a certain spend plus 10% off for members and 8.5% cashback, there’s a couple of bits I’ve seen but it might be worth getting, not sure yet.
A quiet one today, dh got the car fixed yesterday £265 but he paid for it with money he’s saved, hopefully that’s it sorted for a while now. I’ve got a new modem from sky to sort out and also a new SIM card for my mobile. Am trying to get dd to swap her sim now too as she’s paying too much. I might spend a bit from my personal spends today and order a clothes rail so I can sort our room out, we should have build in cupboards but I’m not keen (as well as they are dear), so we have Victorian pine huge drawers/dresser/wardrobe which means my hanging stuff goes on a rail tucked in a corner behind a door.Hopefully the weather is cooler today, it’s too hot for ironing otherwise, happy Sunday 😊MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
Sounds like a good deal on the perfumes.
Glad you got the car sorted, if it breaks again now at least you can go back to the garage and say they didn’t do a proper job!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

You've reminded me I need to book my car in for a service, I've had a couple of reminders already!Even in normal times I think some of us would be looking ahead to Christmas plans so hopefully it's a good distraction at the moment.Good to read you don't need to isolate and credit to your children for being so proactive with it re: their plans.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!5

That’s odd that’s odd, I can’t see yesterday’s post, must have not done it properly! That’s Vix and Cath 🙂 I didn’t order any perfume in the end as the had sold out of one of ones I was getting so the discount would not have been as high.
Yesterday was spent sorting out the clothes corner and under the bed as the boxes and rails came, the walls were all marked behind so I thought I’d freshen it up, and the skirting boards as they look a bit old. So it was all white and I’ve started with the corner with the clothes rails before they went , in “overtly olive “ left over from the living room, I’ve now woken up and am not sure if it’s too dark or I love it and today I have the other three large walls to do 🤦🏼♀️ I’m leaning towrards trying it and seeing, I might need to buy one more smaller pot perhaps, but if it’s awful I can use the vat of white to go over it again when I’ve stopped aching 😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
Oh, good luck with that - I hope you like it - it'll take a lot of white to cover I imagine!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

😂 very true Vix! I’m ploughing on with it still, one and half walls left to do and it’s getting darker, however it’s a colour I do like that is pretty neutral. Had to buy another pot though and it’s a large one as everywhere has sold out of the smaller pot ☹️ £26 spent, it won’t hurt to have spare as it’s downstairs too.I‘Ve decided to not do an online shop for the first time in ages, I’ll get a few bits from m&s this week like bread etc. as it’s local but we have quite a bit in and are getting a takeaway Saturday plus the boys will be out a couple of times to the pub for their birthdays so we can probably stretch food out for a week with a small top up first.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6

I've been converted to darker, bolder colours recently, having thought I'd be an all-white classic kind of girl! Got really dark blue paired with pale grey in the new bedroom with one wall of trees wallpaper, so it's all kind of midnight forest vibe. 'Overtly olive' sounds lush - go for it!Choose kind5
