Thank you everyone, think it’s just hitting home. I’m putting it aside for today and when dh gets home we will meet the kids in the pub garden and get them all a drink. I will be spending some serious time tomorrow or later today looking at everything. I do appreciate it’s just work and money and we are all healthy, that’s the main thing!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁9

Good idea to set it aside for today - enjoy the pub

Thanks greent, we did spend a few hours in the pub garden with them and friends which was nice, bought a few rounds of drinks and luckily they had chosen a slightly rough (to be polite!) but incredibly cheap pub 😁 then I took dd and ds2 and partners to dds boyfriends home to carry on there , well twice as one of them left her keys after too much drink!Next door is having a party, mum this time not son as it’s her birthday, lots of singing and even a full YMCA, I have been warned it will be late and loud, at this point though I’m so tired I think I’ll sleep through anything luckily.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6

Birthday weekend part two this evening, we got them all an Indian takeaway then played ds2’s new board game blockbuster which was great fun, being professional cinema goers Ds2 and I wiped the floor with them 😆
Spent ages looking at what we should do financially today and it’s frying my brain a little! I think dh is unsure of so many things too, I’m wondering if we should keep money back to start again doing the same thing if we can but with less staff and overheads. There’s so much to think about, not sure if this is possible or really what dh wants or not 🤔

Have you been working for them for more than 2 years? If so and If you are being asked to train someone to do your job then it doesnt sound like your job is necessarily redundant - depends of course how many days your job is and how many days the other person will be doing it etc... but it sounds like they may potentially not be following the correct process (which you should be able to get a copy of, I believe) . I assume your place is non-unionised but you can still get advise from ACAS or CAB. May be worth having a quick discussion with them before the meetings so you are possibly better prepared and to check if there's any points you should ask about/ ensure are covered. Lots of points need to be taken into consideration which may not may not apply to you, but a quick chat or at least womble through the websites may give you some further guidance xxI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £205

Hi greent, thanks 🙂 it’s an unusual situation as dh and I both signed a contract to say we would not be entitled to redundancy when they took over, plus I signed a letter to say I would be leaving in six months just before lockdown (on the proviso I would happily train my son to takeover my job) he is being made redundant too now. My job is not redundant and I know that nobody else will have time to do it even if I did train them to do it with half the staff laid off and lots of work sitting there.I guess I’m hopping either we will start something up new or they will realise I am indispensable! I will however see if I can do some research before the meeting, thank you 😊MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6
