That sounds lovely hazelnutty, I was very tempted with a navy painted kitchen when we had the refurb but chickened out and went for white.Off out first thing to try and get birthday cakes, will go to m&s probably as the queue at Costco will be massive and I’ve still to go to a supmarket in person, although today may have to be the day! Ds1’s only request is a large “I am 20” badge, how am I supposed to get that ? They are bound to say 21 if they are massive 😆 and now I’ve just realised that my youngest will be in their twenty’s and not teenagers anymore and I feel quite old, on the plus side I’ve survived having three aged three and under in my twenties which I wasn’t sure I would at the time 😂
After that home to continue the decorating ......MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -

I love colour although a lot of our walls are variations of grey/neutral at the minute with one wall in the bedroom of bright wallpaper.
Our friends have a navy painted kitchen and it is gorgeous.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

No way @XSpender we have hague blue too! It's such a lovely rich dark blue and as it's matt it seems really restful, no shiny bits! I'm thinking of extending this new philosophy on paint colours to the kitchen - seen some lovely navy ones but current thinking is dark teal... Mainly inspired by a stack of lovely J0hn Lewis mugs in a range of tealy/duck eggy colours
It's a bit the wrong way round but I do love a bit of teal and a lot of our kitchen equipment shades well together along the palette. The carpenter will basically just hand to doors to the decorator guy, who'll spray paint them whatever colour we like *exciting!*. If anyone has any thoughts on what colour worktops would go with dark cabinets let me know!!
Good luck with the badge hunt @newgirlyChoose kind6 -
Just googled Hague blue and it’s lovely, very cosy 😊
Vix thanks that would have been perfect, unfortunately it’s for Friday though ☹️ I have bought him a giant it’s my birthday badge and a birthday boy rosette which he will have to make do with 😆

Not great news yesterday, ds2 and I have our redundancy meeting next week ☹️ Plus dh has been told he will be part time from August, even though he offered to go full time for an extra couple of thousand a year as they won’t manage to get the work done. He’s now not allowed to work on the shop floor and needs to get new work in, this is crazy as their sister company that sells our products has a department for that and dh is brilliant at manufacturing. It feels like they are pushing him out and we need to prepare for that. They are wanting both him and myself to go back and train he others to do our jobs, this is not practical anyway as I trained for well over a year also along side the person who did my job previously as each job is different and many come in once a year or longer. Plus the few staff left are behind have plenty of their own work already!Dh spoke with one of them yesterday who allegedly hadn’t thought what will happen when the staff are off over the next few weeks on various holidays and dh is he only one that can cover all jobs (he’s been there since he was 15) and he will be either not here or in able to work on the shop floor, it’s a recipe for disaster 🤦🏼♀️So I’m sad for ds2 who loved the job and was learning fast, I’m sad for dh who does more work than everyone there and holds the place together and I’m sad as I feel they will let all our traditional work go and turnover will fall through the floor, everyone else will lose those jobs eventually and a business that started in the late 1800’s will either have disappeared or changed and shrunk into a totally different company ☹️ Our walls are covered with photos of the men and woman who worked there, we know stories of bombs making holes in the roof of our old building in Upton Park and how they swept up and carried on as there was work to do, war or not.Dh won business person of the year a few years ago and went for lunch with the queen, Prince Philip left his table to come and talk to dh about the company as we did a lot of work for them personally. The lady who trained me had been there for decades and was in the same class at school as the Krays, I could go on and on about the history of the place! During the meeting we had with the new owner, we made it very clear how much the history and the staff mean to everyone there and he understood and loved the fact it’s was a family business and the kids used to come in and help when they were little and worked there when older sometimes.I must sound very naive but I believed him and it turns out from his manager that his usually MO is to sack all management once takeover is complete so dh should have gone long ago ☹️Sorry for the long rant, Just feeling rather cross at the moment! Will try not to dwell on this today though as it’s the boys’ birthdays, they are off to the pub later but we will have some cake first amongst all the balloons and banners I’ve put up which they won’t be bothered about 😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7

Very sad news NG, for you all and for the business. It would be easy to say sod it and watch the business fail for the way they have treated your DH, but for all that lovely history and heritage. So sorry!
Hope the boys have a good day today, despite the news. XMortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
