Travelodges are fine as long as you don't have high expectations! In some cities though, I've found guest houses are often similar prices and a little more personable. Maybe you can manage Brighton later in the year?0

Travelodges are a bit better than the hotel hubby was put up in by a client last year. No window in the room, turn the tv in to see an image from the camera on the roof but no actual window.

That sounds terrible wishing
I can be a bit spur of the moment when it comes to booking cruises and breaks, I just feel quite motivated to not do that this year if it impacts the mortgage plans.
I spoke to dad earlier and the flat they bought in york should be ready to use by spring, that's probably a nice cheap option to be getting on with if we get advance train tickets.
The boys are out for the second night in a row out of four, this time overnight, its a cards and dart watching evening which makes them sound about 80. I did ask if a darts evening was a euphemism for something else that perhaps is over my head, but apparently not :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Shopping trip to Aldi done and £20.08 spent :money:
I did have to buy more potatoes as they were only 28p a bag , now we have about four bags.
We are going to the cinema to see the greatest showman this afternoon and tonight are now going to my parents for a Chinese takeaway, and walking home afterwards. Dh can pay for his own and I've just made WW friendly lentil curry and onion and carrot bhajis so I can save all my points for boozing later, they have plenty of champagne so I'm not missing out on that with dry (ish) January looming
Mse stuff today:
Homemade dinner not takeaway
Cinema passes used and drinks taken with us
Tons of super cheap veg bought again
Borrowed dads car so used his diesel
Saved electric by not using the iron or Hoover!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Why not try airbnb *winks*0

:j YAY! I have just posted off the signed papers for our re-mortgage. We have been allowed to switch 3 months berore the old fixed deal ended.
when it all goes through we will have a £161,500 ish mortgage over 12 years, with a monthly payment of £1367.57, thats £406.00 more than we are paying now:eek:
We also have £9903 on a 0% credit card which I would like to include in our mortgage total, as we were going to add it to our mortgage but it was cheaper to leave it as it is.
So new grand total:
£ 171,403.00
Its a scary amount, and its about £100,000 more than we should have owed had we not run up so many debts over the years, but I feel very optimistic now as I know we will pay it off much earlier than the 29 years left.
Just found this early post form 2010 to see how much we started at, can't believe I have kept this diary up so long as I never stick at anything :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Happy new year all

We had a relaxed evening round my parents , drank loads, didn't eat the curry I took - it looked sludge like and by the time they ordered I was tipsy :rotfl: seaweed and rice instead but dad paid :T we contemplated an uber but for a 15/20 min walk it would have been £1 a minute or so just gone midnight, no chance.
Still in bed but with no hungover oddly, I'll get up soon , do some washing and cleaning ready to go back to work tomorrow- boo! I will also do a round up of this year I think as I've enjoyed reading other people's

Another ultra lazy day
washing is done but I now have a Mount Everest sized ironing pile, not much else was achieved.
I'm going to get a two together railcard soon and think, I've found a discount of 10% so far but won't need it for a few more months so it seems best to hold off for the moment.
So a brief round up of this year is :
Paid £18,445 off what we owe
Lost just under a stone in weight (was over that now under!)
Got a mortgage on the factory and saw the value double in two years
Dd got a full time job as well as going to uni - her choice, think she's stretching herself!
Switched bathroom and bedroom so ds1 has a bigger room
Had a few breaks away, a 4 night and a 7 night cruise together without kids, a couple of nights in york with my parents.
I had a girls weekend away in Italy
A night with friends at the Xmas market
Hosted Xmas eve/Boxing Day with family and did a bit of entertaining before
Went blonde again
Managed a few concerts and theatre trips as well as too many nights out :rotfl:
That's all I can think of right now, it does seem a lot of spending that's for sure! 2018 needs to be as much fun but on a waaayyy lower budget, thinking cap on.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
