Uh oh , I feel like I'm persuading you to spend loads Alex  you could just go for lunch there and stay in a premier inn ;)

It's the eve of he eve of Xmas eve :xmastree::xmassign::rudolf:

It's also the Xmas work do, this year we shall start at the dodgy local pub with all the pool tables near the factory at around 2pm, I'll pick all the lads up and take them there, then after a few hours drive them back to the town nearer home where we have a table booked in another pub (yes you just book seats to sit down -£27!) for a two hour slot, then the restaurant over the road , then a pub crawl for those who can manage it :rotfl: our boys are joining for he meal and possibly the pool table pub probably, no getting in pubs in the evening though , they all scan your driving licence and passport as you go in so they know who's there  it's more "lively" than our local town which is more cocktail bars than than bouncers :rotfl:

Still presents to wrap and swap, a whole house to clean and washing to do, I've been too lazy this week.

    Mse list today:

    Free dinner tonight :D

:rotfl: You’re not, NG. If I take my wife away I don’t mind spending on accommodation, just not £5000 which was a bit of a shock since I’ve become quite insulated from what a nice city break costs for the years I’ve been on MSE.

Didn’t know the eve of Christmas Eve was a thing. Nor scanning your driving licence to enter a pub.

In my experience most city breaks don't cost that much Alex!

Hope you have/had a great night tonight NG and if I don't pop on again beforehand, have a wonderful Christmas! :xmassign: x

  • I love a dodgy pub. Used to go to one in Bristol where whenever "Rhinestone Cowboy" came on the
Jukebox everyone would stop what they were doing and face one way like a Dennis Potter play and sing along.

:rotfl: brilliant shs, my brother's new local does "pub karaoke" - like the normal version but the whole pub sing together, sounds similar :D

Last night was ok, plenty to drink but I did switch to Diet Coke whilst in the dancing bar afterwards so it could have been worse.

My darling first born son as gone to my brothers after football today for a poker game as he has a few friends over, I've offered to pick him up but he has just said he's left to get a bus, I am soooo tired trying to stay awake and have various alarms set to make sure I check he is in ok. They always make sure one of them is out and about when I really need an early night! Dh of course has been asleep half the afternoon and is happily snoring now , I don't sound bitter at all....

    To do list tomorrow :

    Clean everywhere again

Cook food for Xmas eve dinner party 9 guests I think

Set table at mum's for Xmas dinner, it's really is actually shining cutlery and steaming glasses etc. Essex downtown abbey :rotfl:

    Set my own table

Work out when we can open presents Xmas day, dh off early to see his parents, dd off at 6am to see boyfriends dd, then out at about 11am to boyfriends grans, hopefully we will have a gap somewhere.

Paint nails and try and get rid of large bags under eyes :D

Great day, too much food and drink as usual :o

Best presents received were a from the kids- a mads mikklesen calendar :smileyhea bought from hing Kong apparently as nobody here wants them :D a Xmas charm for my bracelet and a Harry Potter sweatshirt.

Best surprise by a long way was a patchwork quilt made by my aunt with a load of Xmas fabric I bought years ago and was never good enough to make myself, its double bed sized in different patterned Xmas red green and white fabric and is stunning with a matching cushion, she said it would take her a couple of years to do but has been slogging away at it for months and finished it :T

Hope everyone had a lovely day :)
