Well done to your boys :j

What did you find out about the m%s switch? Our new dd won't leasce the account until the second week of sept so wondering whether can apply now or need to wait?

Re: losing a day, it's possible you can recoup a bit of lost income by having more time to shop around for cheaper deals on things, batch cook etc.
Enjoy your evening out, think it's well timed.

  • Newgirly are you sure being down a day's work will affect your income so much? If I worked 4 days instead of 5 I would almost come out with the same money as the 5th day seems to push me into a higher tax bracket or something...4 days would be ideal but not possible as a primary school teacher!
Anyway I wouldn't look for a new job. Perhaps if the business is more productive after the redundancies then your DH might manage to make up some of the shortfall in mortgage OPs or something else might crop up along the way.
    Congrats on your boys results!

Hi thanks for popping in cath and castlelough :)

Cath I haven't looked into the details of the account but have applied and set up the 2x2 direct debits in obsolete accounts we don't use really, I'll let you know what happens when they write back.

Castlelough I could try and get more work as I am basically officially one going to be working one day a week now! But I know I will end up going in more and it will be as and when needed, the best thing I could do is try and start a little online business like I have said I want to many time over the years.

Cath it's already making a big difference having cut a day down earlier in the year, with another extra day I will now decorate the whole house and start having major clear outs for a start :D

Lovely meal with my best friend last night, Prezzo with a £2.50 for a second course voucher :money: she's more like a sister than a best friend as we have known each other since we were two, we have not met up for a couple of weeks while she been away, it defiantly cheered me up.

Still waiting for an appointment to come through from hospital but trying to make a conscious effort to not worry as I am a person that is virtually planning my funeral when I find I need to go to the doctors :rotfl: on the plus side cutting out fat and alcohol has helped with the weight loss, a few more pounds off this week.

Another day another free film :D a rather rubbish choice that is more dhs type of film - the mechanic.

I've been spending today, but it's all for Xmas and from the Xmas savings pot. I'm very close to booking Aladdin tickets for dd who wants to go but they are of the £££££ kind! I've already got her a few bits, if I buy one it's ok but two tips me way over budget, so I'm thinking instead of buying her a pair to take a Friend or boyfriend I'll get myself one for Xmas from my parents and/or dh :D

Food top up shop done and got 3x 9p loaves reduced :T

Also went to the big Xmas display that's just opened in the garden centre nearby, always go the first weekend and then pop back nearer the time, bought myself a pass the parcel Brussel sprout as we had one last year and it was great fun at the table :D

You are so organised newgirly, I'm struggling with birthdays that are only weeks away!

My children keep seeing adverts for the most awful toys!!

I'm already panicking I might be hosting Xmas day so I need to be organised. :xmastree:
There's not much you can do to stop them wanting rubbish is there Cath!

Thought I might start getting bits together to pack for the cruise today as we are going in 11 days (unless I chicken out of leaving the kids alone) we have one night in a hotel in Southampton then a two night cruise to bruge , it was so much cheaper than a 3 or 4 night one but am wondering if it's worth going really for that short time.

Seem to be slowly losing weight still, cutting out alcohol must help a lot and im trying to have a very low fat diet (only due to fact I'm having scan) Over a stone off this year now, but I would love to lose a total of 3 st over this year or as close to it as possible.

Mortgage op to offset still not made yet this month, can't remember if I mentioned before but a drop in wages will mean two months on the term , so we should finish in sept 2018 instead of July when it's the kids 18ths and 21st birthdays, still not too long to wait really although the months seem to be going slower :rotfl:

Six years ago we had a 33 year term left so really we should now have 27 years left  that would take me to 68 instead of the 43 that fingers crossed we will finish at. If we had of not doubled our mortgage with debt over the years it could have been gone by now!

Amazing really the difference mse has made to our lives :D
