Spending analysis done for August
Planned budget originally £570 then upped it to £600 as am not saving £30 pm for cruise spending money now.
£600 total budget
£403.12 groceries
£135.58 petrol - what the h*ll budget is £50!
£85.66 eating out /treats (included summer day trips etc.)
£191.09 clothes - very unusual - ds2 had a whole new college wardrobe plus some bits for ds1
£63.78 home misc. mainly dds bedroom plus a new toilet seat
Total on cc and from current acct:
£879.23
My rather optimistic budget is exactly £600 pm for he next 26 months with NO leeway. Not sure that is a realistic aim now :rotfl: I think I'll still attempt to do it, and if I fail it will mean less of the mortgage and extending the term a bit more, it has to be worth a try.
It's dhs birthday today, he has a couple of new shirts from primarni and a night in a hotel before the mini cruise next week, he doesn't want to do anything as he is so busy at work at the moment so he is fairly low maintenance.
Back soon with September plans.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
SEPTEMBER GOALS
Utilise the extra time I have to be more organised, set a daily/weekly routine to get more on top of the washing and cleaning etc.
Daily routine:
Bathrooms & kitchen clean and mop
All washing daily
All ironing as and when it's dry
Every other day :
Hoover everywhere, keep hallway tidy (aka the trainer dumping ground!) , dust living room
Weekly:
Food shop
Mop all kids bedrooms and downstairs
Clean all bedrooms thoroughly
Clean fridge
That's the basic plans for running the house, the financial goals are stick to the budget:
£600 budget:
£80 petrol
£380 food/ groceries
£50 home/misc.
£40 going out/ fun
£50 clothes
I also get £50 cash for treats and odds and ends too, plus dh gets £60 and the boys get £20 each pocket money.
I think I'll see how we do in September trying to actually come in under budget and then maybe do some kind of oct- Dec challenge too, it's like a tradition now to try and be as frugal as possible on the run up to XmasMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Oh dear not just me then
Dh wants to watch the dvd ds2 bought him tonight I don't fancy that so I will be looking at Xmas cakes online as I've been watching bake off this morning and it has inspired me to do more cooking and less buying this year. :bdaycake: so no usual white icing and plastic 70's decorationsMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I daren't actually state our August spends ...
 Re. doing laundry (I presume this is what you mean by "washing" and not crockery / cutlery) everyday. Can't actually believe anybody really does this?! Once per week in this household and ironing gets sent to an ironing lady.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200

:rotfl::rotfl: I am the ironing lady
I don't use the dryer really and we have a lot of washing, I wish it was once a week!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Our August spends were high too, ng - things like school uniforms and buying for DD for uni sent our spends soaring
Alex - I have no idea how you can wash once a week. Our washing machine is on most days (not today, unusually) - I'd say 8/9 loads or so per week is standard here. Possibly more in term time...I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

Hope you don't hate it too much, then. Our August spends were high too, ng - things like school uniforms and buying for DD for uni sent our spends soaring

We have a "laundry day" and far too many clothes. School uniformwise: we buy five of everything twice per year.2018 totals:

Oh no I was always far too tight to buy 5x each of uniforms, they had to have expensive hogwarts type house coloured stuff for lots of it. Dds blouses were £17 each 8 years ago
Hi greent , hope your dd is all sorted and looking forward to setting off on her new adventure at uniMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi ng - yes DD is getting terribly excited - and I'm spending lots getting things ready!
My DD's blouses for VIth form were £19 each - she had 4. Even if I had 5 of everything (the boys have 3 or 4 of everything - they have a full change every day) I still couldn't physically get that much washing and drying done in one day - and I'm sure you're the same in your house ng
Oooh - on the subject of laundry, am looking at getting DD a L@keland heated dryer thing for uni (lots of her clothes aren't suitable for TD - and that costs a lot anyway) - do they fold down well, and how long do things like jeans take to dry on them? I know you love yoursDo you have one of the covers and - if so - does it make a difference?
