Makes me feel tired just reading through your long list of jobs to do Looks likely that mortgage rates will be cut next month so good news in one way and not in others unfortunately. All the talk of classic cars has made me feel very nostalgic ,my father too had a lot of the cars you have all mentioned and lots more besides over the 40-50 years that he collected ,he spent all his spare time either repairing or restoring them ,brings back lots of lovely memories ,i can even recall the lovely smells of the interiors i would sit for hours at the steering wheel.0

It's the smell that gets you isn't it!
I have my mil coming over to trim my hair today (and dds ) now that's dedicated moneysaving - even dh said just go the hairdressers :rotfl: ironing done , well all dry stuff done, clothes packed.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I'm told about "the smell" but don't know what anyone is talking about ... just too used to it! :rotfl:
 Re. your daughter NG, sounds like she's going to be really busy. Is she going to be studying / living in London, then?2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
Studying in London living at home (we are in an outer London borough) halls were £2600 pm on campus  even if we could afford it dd would much rather save it for a deposit as she wants to get her own place, could be quite a while that I think
Christening today and the weather looks sunny - best friend has 135 coming for a garden party afterwards so fingers crossed it stays good.
My to do list still has a a way to go! Will do the bulk last minute now I guess.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Dropped in again for an update
Two cruises booked wow, you really need to try to find more days the short cruises are relatively so expensive.
I really think you need to stay where you are house wise till you have a clear long term option, that needs a long term on a mortgage and a backup fund to pay it till the finances are very clear, don't think you are there yet but close.
Travel makes perfect sense to buy the annual the monthly saving is worth it
(* see below).
cut a deal if she wants to contribute you cover the college weeks and she covers the rest(work/fun trips using the card), stick the money to one side and it is there ready for next years season ticket.
*
zone 1-6 student annual £1652 monthly £158.60
that is the equivalent of 26.98% interest
using mortgage money @ X.XX% is a seriously good idea.
Using discounts gets round the requirements to show APR on financial transactions.0 -
MSC 20sept Southampton 7n £399.
Edit:
Forgot to add 20170 -
Hi gm4l , unfortunately I don't think the cost of the annual pass would be paid next by her paying for a few months the while she is off! Hopefully by next year she will be earning a bit more.
As for the cruises, I know we can get cheaper for longer trips, but I have never left all of the kids home alone before, so we will see how they are first
Fabulous christening yesterday, tons of prosecco and they had a fish and chip van later on, I had deep fried halloumi amd chips which was very nice.
Cleaning and finishing packing today, plus the food shop to take away.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Any contributions just go toward next years pass, given the number of weeks the students that work in my local actually go to college pay would probably be less anyway the full year covers holiday as well that's the bit that needs to come from earnings.0

She only works one day a week paid at the moment so that would be all her money gone, I am happy to pay for her travel, I consider we are getting off cheaply compared to most parents with kids at uni.
Food shop for the trip at Aldi done, I managed to spend £117  it does included pet food and 3x toiletries plus quite a few treats, Thanks goodness I didn't go to tesco.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Back home
Alton towers was great and we all really enjoyed it! The cottage was massive and as well as the usual horses they had aquired a pot bellied pig and a giant rabbit, cute
we didn't all eat out in the end and I cooked in the cottage as it had a huge kitchen table, I paid for their lunches at the park instead. Driving the mini bus as OK, bit scary at first though! So glad we did it as everyone got on really well and we had a good laugh.
Finances need checking and i need a lean month really but it's all the kids birthdays in the next couple of weeks  tonight we are having takeaway with my parents and dds boyfriend and cooking would be cheaper, my Parents wouldn't want that though as they love Friday curry nights and it looks very mean to not order when they have just given me so much money and its dds birthday. So about £60 needed for the 6 of us plus wine. The boys are not really doing anything for their 16th (trying to pass Alton towers off as a birthday treat :rotfl:) I think mum and dad will do a Barbie though.
I am itching to go on holiday at the moment, we have a window of a week which would be perfect, the rest of the summer is a no go due to college days, exam results, staff already off etc. So tempting to book a cheeky cheap few days somewhere!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
