Every time I read about house prices in the South East / London, I am always shocked just how little you can buy for your money.

We bought our 4 bed detatched house with 1/3 acre in a lovely rural location in Wiltshire for £5K more than my parents in law just sold their 3 bed terraced house in a built up area in Slough - absolute madness!

Good news about the company profit. At least you viewed it,realised you love your house and you can focus on your goal.

Visualise yourself mortgage free in just 2 years. Won't that feel amazing!

When will you make a final decision on the 50k?

I know it's crazy down here, before we had the loft extension in 2013 our house was worth £220k , now it's over double that. I am sure where you live is beautiful Alex, but it's not home.

My parents (used to be grandparents too:() live walking distance, all the kids friends are close and my lovely best friend is up the road - sounds daft but we have been close since we were two :D plus of course the kids are settled. The reason we moved back from a village a bit further out when they were babies was for the schools, the local one was not so great, but where we are now they are all outstanding and walking distance. Plus my ds1 would rather chop off his arm than move away from his beloved West Ham team so we have to stay :rotfl:

Cath, the money is still going to the mortgage but I will be making plenty of plans in my head about what needs doing to house in the mean time, first on the list a new kitchen and maybe a kitchen extension or rearrangement of what we have. So once the mortgage is gone we will be saving for much needed home improvements :)

    Good today - payday

Bad today- leaving the Eu :(

Maybe it was best to have decided against the house, with the result of the referendum, everything seems uncertain.:(

Indeed, glad I have reserved a mortgage rate for next month already, I wonder how long it will take before the rates go up?

I completely understand somewhere not feeling like home, so do get your reasons, NG. :) I just never fail to be shocked by prices near London.

Not long, according to the mortgage advisor my friend met with earlier this week:

a mortgage advisor who says they're getting daily updates. If there is an out vote, all lenders will be pulling current mortgage rates as they expect the Bank of England rate to rise.

So well done on getting the rate booked :)

    Blimey Kate, worrying stuff!

To do list for today/tomorrow :

    Cancel estate agent valuation

    Clean whole house

    Strip beds

    Do all ironing / washing

Get boys to try on prom stuff

    Check accounts

    Clean out fridge

Visit dad and his lotus Elan after he collects it :D

Make a descision on a mini cruise for this year and just book it! experience (and price watching multiple times a day) says it's rare they drop in price as time goes on! It's a good incentive with the weight loss too, which has stalled lately :(

Bought the twins shirts and shoes for prom yesterday £55 total spend, didn't go to high end clearly! And spent £15 odd in the farm shop on a tray of eggs and various salad and veg.

Also spent on booking a night away :T we are going for 1 night to the Xmas market in bury st Edmunds with best friend and her hubby, so looking forward to it as we have not been for years.

    Happy weekend :)

Seems unlikely, there's talk of it falling to 0%:eek::eek:.
