You won't be disappointed, I even had a leaky eye at one point
GG £1 is fantastic roadkill, £20 is however in a different league you are right
Oops, dh has just informed me it was his parents GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY last week :eek: we saw them and they didn't even mention it! I have wasted whole evening looking for meal deals online and trying to get his brothers to come to us for a family party (too busy!) dh does not seem bothered as they wont be fussed.
The budget is squeaky this month, but a 50th anniversary is not an every day occourance, so the options are:
Pay for a meal out for 7 or possibly 8 -eek!
Do a Spanish themed buffet at our house - mil is Spanish and fil loves Spain, mil would enjoy but fil would not appreciate to be honest! Won't want to drive over etc.
Go to their house and take a cake / ballons etc. get a takeaway
Try and get them somewhere different and splash out a bit , maybe a meal up town - drawbacks possibly being embarrassed by fil in a nice restaurant. (Please don't judge, I am not being unkind, it is a fact!) mil would enjoy
Local tapas restaurant - the boys not keen on Spanish food
Urgh, don't know what to do, I have barely started the tight budget and already am thinking about spending loads on this. But mil is 76, fil is very careful with money so they don't do much, should we be seizing the moment?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Could just you and hubby take them out for a meal (eg: local tapas place)? - boys (and DD) are old enough to stay by themselves whilst you're out.
I agree that spending money on a tight budget is hard - but also agree that a 50th anniversary is a special event and should be marked in some way.
Do a cake and spray it with edible gold lustre? to have after a takeaway?

Why not pay for just them to go out if they don't do much? You can always be taxi to save fil driving. Or try and find them a keepsake from 1966 newspaper etc.Mortgage Jan 13 99260.00 87253 April 2017

Afternoon tea just for them? (or maybe the 4 of you?) There's usually some fab deals on Groupon!

Oops deleted a long post
Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I think it will end up being a curry at ours or me cooking or just them and dh and I going for lunch somewhere reasonable.
I bought a nice cake and a plant from m and s tonight and some banners and ballons tooMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

The lengths you will go to Gally! :rotfl:
I was walking across the Tarmac to the plane, needed to stop to stick my coat in the case and spotted the coin as I put case down :T
NG I think you're just a frustrated party planner :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Ha ha maybe GG
I get to exercise my party planning dreams today too, dd is throwing a tea party for a friends birthday and inviting a few others, I have bought lovely rainbow coloured sparkly cupcakes from mr t , Buck's Fizz , and we are making posh sarnies. Today's theme is pink polka dot from the £1 shop :rotfl:
Builders cracking on very well, patio slabs going down today as its all levelled off with black stuff (don't know what!) laid everywhere
House is a filthy tip and I need to do 1000 loads of washing today, find clothes for the cruise , and gather what we need to take. Not organised at all.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
