Hi moneyfordreams, what a lovely compliment thank you, i hope the oping is going well :) ps let me know if you beat 19ft in the malteser cannon ball run :D

Late lunch at the inlaws, very late as they asked friends of dh's brother (even though said brother lives hours away) and his uncle to pop in and they did just as lunch was about to be served, they had eaten already and it was a bit odd to be honest, the same guy who they brought univited to our house for a pre family xmas dinner. So a cold hot dinner! Different ways for different families i guess.

Inlaws ok today really, although they do sometimes bring out the worst in dh which can culminate in a mini row/disagreement with me and dd usually. Usually quite political which me and dh never normally argue about, its strange! All good now though.

Getting dangerously close to diet time, this time last year i had my last drink for ages , until just before my 40th in march if memory serves right, this time it has to be diet and alcohol free though, not that excited really, although have done my best this evening to drink up the chocolate baileys,

Grocery budget came in way over £1112 from 1st October.

I don't think any more will get spent this year as we have milk and frozen bread and I did a great top up shop at m and s today for just over £12 for loads of reduced veg.

Need to set a few mini challenges now for next year:

    30k total ops for 2016

    £7,500 jan - march op's

Save £2 pw for the annual horses/music day out with some of the guys from work

Save : £80 pm for xmas, £50m pm birthdays

Monthly food budget will be £400 pm, any surplus will go in the holiday/treat pot.

    January:

    £250 grocery budget.
£150 stash away for something nice!

As its that time of year it should be ok to trim the food budget a bit, a plain month won't do any harm and I am going alcohol free (that will help a lot!) I am buying a mini slow cooker from mum as she had two for xmas, so that will do one person cheap healthy curries and soups for me on my new lose weight regime, if I stop being so lazy and buying mr t diet meals I can save more and still eat ok, plus I have borrowed her nutri bullet to try for a week or so, if it is as good as people say I might get one with some xmas money I was given.

I bought some plastic wallets from £1land a few weeks ago and i've had great fun cracking them open today for my new oldstyle cash envelope system.

The xmas /birthday budget has been raised from what I planned yesterday, £100pm xmas £85pm birthdays, if its too much the surplus will be saved in the new "savings" envelope :D Those two categories are a big spend but I will probably spend under thanks to mse :money:

    Current budget is pm:

    £400 food
    £80 petrol
    £85 birthdays
    £100 xmas
    £185 clothes/school/misc everything else

Frivolous food spending has been more common lately, so from now on takeaways come from the grocery budget ( not very often) and proper meals out come from the everything else budget on rare occassions.

The main plan is to really go for it for the first half of the year and then reassess if we need to adjust a bit for spending on the kids if needed later in the year.

Edit not sure what the sad face is for at the top of the post!

Morning cath, I made a purple coloured drink with -spinach,a carrot, tiny bit of kale ,ginger and lots of mixed frozen berries topped up with water and it was a bit yuk! My mum loves it and makes lots of different receipes, for me I am not getting one though as I enjoy eating spinache/kale etc. I was not keen drinking it, plus at work I get to sit down for a bit if eating whilst don't with a drink.:o

Don't let me put you off as others I know that use them love them and it is easy to use and clean and much better than a blender, what blenders made into sludge , it turned into liquid!

Dh at work today, so its finally time to clean up. I have had the tree up since late november so should take it down now, it will make me a bit sad but there is no point in cleaning and then packing everything up in a few days.

Apart from a stressful year at work and with gran being ill, the year has finished quite well, december was really enjoyable as I had so many treats planned, i would love to do that again next year.

Holiday wise next year I have no idea, the kids have only ever been abroad once to a villa in portugal for a week about 5 years ago, its possible I will have money to pay for a holiday from mum when grans house sells. But the kids are at the stage they don't want to go away really and would rather spend summer with friends or in bed :rotfl: I need ideas they might enjoy that would not cost 10000's (ie. Florida!) at the moment ds2 want go to louisiana to see the rams play, the others don't fancy anywhere?! I am thinking a city break or mini cruise perhaps, centreparcs was ok last year but I would love to do something they have never done before, and that they might enjoy.

Also they all finish school early as they are yr 11 so its possible to pay a lot less,we normally go in summer holiday time which is so much dearer.

None of this will come from our wages though, priority is still the mortgage and debts, but mum did say she would like to pass some money on to us and it would be nice to do something special.

A holiday is an investment in memories that will last a lifetime! Go for it but just find a cheap fun way to do it. Like maybe camping in France or something? I know a lot of people have done this and love it!
