House is a tip, I have a cold again! Tons of washing and ironing has appeared from nowhere :rotfl:

This morning I'm having coffee in town to swap presents with friends, other than that just sorting the house out.

I saved my holiday this year so I could book a long run off at xmas, it works out at 18 days which is a lot, but I am on day 7 already :( and already feeling quite fed up at the thought of going back. I find it so stressful some days, but its not that easy to just find something else if you are working for your dh :o

I have been reflecting on in in the last few days a bit, and I think its because I am such a control freak when it comes to money , seeing things done a different way than I would is difficult, I am all over things at home but at work have no say On the flip side if I was involved I don't think I would sleep at night worrying about every detail.

I don't know, perhaps I am just tired and need a break and am feeling sorry for myself, its not easy to talk to dh as he works much longer hours so i feel very selfish!

:santa2: Happy xmas eve fellow mfw'ers :D I hope everyone has a great few days, I always prefered xmas eve to xmas day when the kids were tiny, so I'm very envious of all those with little ones still :D

Dh is at work for the first time in about 16 years , hes not fussed but it feels strange, I am taking dd and maybe ds1 (if we can get him up!) to see star wars this morning, and setting the table at mums this afernoon.

I hope everyone had a good xmas day, I am so behind at the moment reading everybody's diaries.

Our xmas was pretty good, different without gran. The highlight was the malteser challenge, the culmination of the boys vs girls xmas quiz challenge. Get a metal tape measure pulled out as far as possible placing the end in your mouth and roll a malteser from one end to the other, girls won as we managed to get from the top of the stairs to the front door - 19ft.

We got lots of nice presents and ds1 went out and bought us all some presents which was a nice surprise. dh and I spent a lot less on each other this year and it made no difference at all.

I cant wait to spend a good few hours doing next year's full budget for everything now, but off to the inlaws today.

  • Happy Christmas Newgirly,

I hope you and your family have a happy and successful new year. Your diary was the first I read.

You have given me the courage to speed up my payments. It will be a 10 year plan though.

Malteser challenge sounds fab. We will give that a go later

Hi moneyfordreams, what a lovely compliment thank you, i hope the oping is going well :) ps let me know if you beat 19ft in the malteser cannon ball run :D

Late lunch at the inlaws, very late as they asked friends of dh's brother (even though said brother lives hours away) and his uncle to pop in and they did just as lunch was about to be served, they had eaten already and it was a bit odd to be honest, the same guy who they brought univited to our house for a pre family xmas dinner. So a cold hot dinner! Different ways for different families i guess.

Inlaws ok today really, although they do sometimes bring out the worst in dh which can culminate in a mini row/disagreement with me, dd and dh usually. Usually quite political which me and dh never normally argue about, its strange! All good now though.

Getting dangerously close to diet time, this time last year i had my last drink for ages , until just before my 40th in march if memory serves right, this time it has to be diet and alcohol free though, not that excited really, although have done my best this evening to drink up the chocolate baileys,
