Thanks for the support guys
could definatly do with some ideas occ, don't think I have enough active brain cells at the moment for mb though
Sad news today, gran passed away this morning. I got a phone call very early from mum who was told to get there quick and when she arrived it was a few minutes too late, very sad but its a relief as she has been very distressed and confused the last two weeks.
The kids seem ok, with the boys its harder to tell sometimes.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Oh I'm sorry for your loss. MiniOCC cried for about a week when (great)nanny Gwen died earlier this year. We all still really miss her0

Sorry to hear about your grandmother and mortgage.
As for extra £££s do you have any skills in languages, music or experience in a national curriculum subject to degree level? Always someone wanting music lessons or GCSE / A Level support.Another idea, if you're good at sewing you could start your own trim 'shop or do alterations.
2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -

whathewalrussaid sorry I didn't spot your post last night but thank you for de lurking, its very strange as I alway think its just people who have posted a reply that read. Do you have a diary?
Alex I never even went to college let alone uni and I don't have any skills except cleaning peoples houses which is a last resort at the moment.
The only rather hilarious part time job I would like to retrain for would be a personal trainer, I don't like exercise but they charge £45 ph here and the one I went to had a log cabin in her garden like mine, might need to lost 3 stones first :rotfl:
Cath there is no plan b as I am making payments to clear it, however If I have to I would try and get down to a figure that its possible to borrow a loan sized amou t to cover Ie. 25K. Or something and clear with a personal loan (I realise that this is probably against the rules , just talking at the most extreme lose your house or borrow the remainder situation!)
In more mundane news I bought a carpet sweeper this week for £12.99 and its brilliant, no more lugging henry up 2 flights of stairs to do the penthouse off white carpet (ahem , once a week as I can't be bothered) now I can sweep away little bits of fluff every day , little pleasuresMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Sorry to hear about your Gran NewGirly.
Like whathewalrussaid I too am a lurker who reads regularly even though I don't post. I am sure you have a lot of such readers!
Your constant motivation in the face of all the difficulties times is inspiring.
It is frustrating how the banks operate these days. When I moved 3 years ago I struggled to get a mortgage as I had no regular savings history and no credit history - despite the fact I had overpaid the mortgage for years and knocked huge amounts off (5.9% interest rate so better than savings) and had some savings I transferred ad hoc it didn't matter - I had no standing order/DD set up to show I could maintain regular payments and no credit cards/overdraft so couldn't demonstrate I could manage debt....hmmmm....I was overpaying on the mortgage - the biggest debt anyone can have!
You will get there though, your determination thus far proves it.
(waves)......back to lurkdom....Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.100 -
So sorry to hear about your Gran Newgirly... best wishes to you and the family...0

Hi babyb06 very kind of you to post , it seems the banks get you either way these days if you have debt or if you don't ! I am glad you manged to still get a mortgage. Thanks for popping out of lurkdon though, do you have a diary?
Went shopping at lidl first thing, spent £78 :eek. Did get posh looking xmas crackers for £5.99 per box for mum ( I buy every year but they can't be cheapy ones :rotfl:) plus some chocolate coins and little santas for the homemade advent i am making.
Need to go through the finances again to check all is ok, and update grocery spends eek, not looking forwards to that one.
We have dd's awards ceremony tonight for services to the college , its at a local theatre, she will get £250 the lucky thingMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Sorry to hear about your gran Newgirly.
Dd awards show ceremony sounds fab, sounds like she has a good head on young shoulders.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Awards ceremony was good, dd is thinking of spending her winnings on a photoshop course.
Oh dear, my dh has got wind if the fact that prince is playing at the end of this month. Apparently just before they were released he withdrew the tickets for the usual non reasons . Dh will try and get some , it does not matter if we can or can't afford them :rotfl: Chances are very very slim but last time he did a "verrucca salt" and got all the staff on all the computers at work trying and we got a pair for camden roundhouse last year. £85 each and they were cheap  He really loves prince!
Possible very good news at work, we are a whisker away from a massive deal with a company who want us to run some machinery that they buy in our factory, looks like we can't charge per piece we make, but per hour per staff member running it( they are currently running it abroad cheaper) could be very good for us fingers crossed, high turnover regular work still running along side our traditional handmade stuff. :T
Dh and dd at work today, all washing done and drying , wil iron tomorrow and clean today. Need to have a rest this weekend, its been a very stressful week.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
