NG: Thanks re. Halloween party. :) Your dinner sounds like it was fun. As for your son, hope he's got the cut throat off for school tomorrow. :rotfl:

I'm really sorry to hear about your grandmother, don't really know what else I can say. :(

    Thanks Alex.

Nationwide have not created my statement at the weekend as they should have, so all the spending I did on it this weekend (ie. food and indian takeaway for 6) to come from Novembers spending may go through Octobers, rang them up and he said its very unusual. now won't have enough to cover it come payday and will have to shuffle hopefully without affecting the mortgage.

Grocery spending now £437.90 out of the £1000 for the last three months of this year budget, must stop spending money!!

Have been considering slightly reducing the ops to allow a bit more money to live on (by about £60 pm) will still pay a bit more than is needed to clear in term but it all seems very tight at the moment. will take a look tonight.

Keep up the good work newgirly!!! I find that I overpay more when I commit to less, rather than over committing and then struggling. Do what works best for you though!

Really sorry to hear about your nan, NG. My mum had dementia. I think that she forgot I was her daughter. She went through a stage of thinking I was her sister, but after that, I'm not sure who she thought I was, but she seemed to know I was someone special to her, and at least always seemed pleased to see me. It seems everyone is affected differently, but it is a very cruel disease

  • You are having difficult times at the moment.
Have you read MMM's article about "Giving the shaft to your future self"?

Hi goldiegirl, I'm so sorry to hear you had to go through that with your mum, it must have been so distressing :(

Hi firegirl, I think it depends on self control which I don't have much of :o

Hi shs, i have read that article (just had another quick look again) we have definatly shafted our future selves over the last 20 years, I hope we are not doing that too much now. I do think mmm is way too hardcore sometimes though, I'd rather have a balance of spending on some stuff with the kids before they get too old.

For example My inlaws have scrimped all their lives with very low paid jobs, have worked their way up to having a detatched house once all the kids had left , worth probably £650k but the lights are always off , its freezing, they hardly go out etc. A childhood of extreme frugality (if thats a word!) for them to have the house they needed when they are a lot older, last year they were looking at moving near bil so they could afford a 6 bed - for the two of them.

None of my business I guess, but it does put me off going too far sometimes with the heating :rotfl:

  • I definitely think having a miserable life but a big house is a bit daft.

Loads to do at work at the moment and hardly any staff still due to holiday/illness/laying off.

Have been feeling very up and down lately, my throat doesn't feel right again, not as bad as last year (a a lump feeling in it for months, probably caused by stress) and am waiting for smear test results, which normally dorsn't worry me so much as it seems to be this time. I guess its stress, but I don't feel too stressed.just tired!

So am not drinking at the moment as it may make it worse and am trying to stay really on top of the house and washing so it doesn't build up which helps a lot.

Credit card statemeant produced and I have overspent as everything has gone on last months! Need to think about how to rectify easily. Grocery buget from now until 3rd dec is £250 then decs budget will be £312 a bit higher for xmas treats.:)

Oh dear, you're having a bit of a rotten time of it at the moment, I do feel for you with all of the stress and general crappy feeling that you're having. I hope you feel better soon and that things perk up for you. Virtual hug winging its way to you....

Sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish :(

I know exactly what you mean about keeping on top of the housework, it stresses me out too when it gets past a certain level of mess and that is without your added pressures.

Hope things ease up for you soon.
