There are so many more diaries than there used to be on here, i can't keep up so i'm so glad smallholdingsister pointed me in the right direction
Today has been a success, I took a days holiday and had both boys up and at a boot sale first thing. They went halves on a sega megadrive , working well but with a dodgy controller so ordered 2xnew ones on ebay. Total spend for them. £35 and £3 for me on a second hand game.
Budget tough this month, total spends so far :
£99.95 petrol (filled eric up so went over usual budget)
£99.77 food
£14 birthdays
£162.59 misc
£28.64 eating /drinking out.
£235.05 left in budget until sept 10th
Misc.very high, lots of back to school bits plus ds2's new trainers, eating out high as took dd for lunch to celebrate exams.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Summer does seem to be disappearing so fast. The nights are definitely drawing in quickly! It was so dark today my headlights kept switching on, how depressing!
That said, I seem to recall lots of the diaries here embracing it and treating sept 1st like their financial new year.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Cath that is a good point, sept 1st is an exellent time to start an end of year challenge, hmmm what should it be?
Ds1and 2 have to collect gcse results for science today, they can retake next year if they want to, very different to three years ago dd took all subjects in year 10 and again in yr 11.
Very tired as dd at theatre all week so collecting her from station at 12 ish (she can get the bus but its a bit late to be loittering at bus stops alone, in my opinion not hers :rotfl:) the lighting woman is off tonight so dd is doing them , plus there is a famous actor coming to watch tonight plus a couple of judges as its up for an award so she is TERRIFIED of doing it wrong.
We have friends over tonight who we rarely see, they have not seen the loft conversion so may well want a nosey , that means cleaning and tidying the whole house i'm and feeling way to lazy.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Still in pj's cant believe how rubbish daytime tv is :rotfl:
Dwelling on how bad things are financially for the business today, I made a drastic suggestion to cut costs and dh is talking to the other directors today about it. I've told dd how bad things are too (she aleady knew tbh).
I feel positive about the changes in spending over the last few weeks since I got a kick up the bum from everyone, overall spending /oping and saving targets met , plus i'm trying to earn a bit extra. But it may all be for nothing if the business has such serious issues
I know there is not much else I can do to control the situation and in therory we would not be homeless as we have about £240k equity which would buy an ex council small terrace in a not very nice area about 20 mins away, but I don't fancy that!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Feeling less miserable today
Dd has a few days off so no more midnight pick ups :. I've twisted dh's arm to help clear the log cabin and do a bootsale tomorrow with the boys. It could be a stressful day though , he used to get "loft rage" whenever he went up there, but now we don't have one it will be "log cabin rage" :rotfl:
Breadmaker on, washing in, house fairly tidy. Need to visit gran today , mum went away yesterday, she has carers four times a day, hopefully their will be no issues that need dealing with as i've not had to do that yet and am a bit worried about it. Kids mess i'm fine with, but it seems different when its an older relative.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

As you want to target workforce reductions, cost can be a selection criteria to capture the higher paid, but if you have cash flow problems paying redundancy that won't help.
Definately get this done BEFORE any new contract come in or it will be much harder.
If business picks up you can take on people to fill the gaps.
You say you have skills issue(traning) so focus on reduction in overhead areas it is much easier to replace/contract people like admin.0 -
I need to shs, we are at log cabin stalemate. He doesn't want to do it , and is moaning, perhaps i should only do things when i fancy it!
I've done ;
Granny visit , bought her more food done her washing and hung out and fed her.
Three loads of our washing
Cooked roast potatoes for a quick mini roast sunday for after the (possible!) bootsale
Cooked thai green curry in sc
Baked a loaf
Made a spanish omlette
Sent parcels off for brothers ebay
Dropped ds at station for football
Made lunch
Cleared some of log cabin
Bought a card and some ale for dh for anniversary
And 've not done much ......MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
