Hi gg did you get a policy in the end? Bit worried they will impose restrictions on which policies you can buy to use it !
o
It's still on my to do list!
I've been diverted by other things in the last couple of days, but I really will do it tomorrow, just in case they start making minimum spend restrictions.
My mum was a mini driver. She had white 1980 model, and later a silver 1987 model. They were fun cars to drive.
Well done on your badge - I was very excited when I got mine!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Tut tut gg, get it done or they may close the loophole
Nobody is trying to put me off buying a car which will take me a little over my £300 monthly spending challenge, I think I should assume that its obviously a good idea.I'm off to work out how much it would cost pm to make up the difference over the next 7 years

Hmm, I could pay for the car from this months money if I don't op the large loan for a month, plus I have some birthday money left that will cover the tax and ins.
I'm trying to weigh up how crazy an idea it is! If I used it to commute to work I would save a fair bit as our car is a seven seater which is not light on petrol. Tax is £145 py and insurance is £122. Im currently spending around £150 ish pm commuting and the odd local trip, I guess I could knock a third off that.
Our current car is just had a new clutch and has got low milage, so I'm not planning on changing that until the mortgage is paid off.
Oh dear I don't know, plus dd says it looks like a death trap as its too smallMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
How very grown up of her!
You would be better buying a bit older as it would be tax exempt wouldn't it?0 -
Initial thoughts:
If you're keeping the 7 seater you still need to pay tax & insce on that, so no savings there (poss minimal on insurance if you reduce annual mileage) So you'd be 'saving' £50 a month on fuel - and paying out £2250 + tax & insce and mot and maintenance costs to do so.

Haha! I really don't want him to get a 3rd car I'd like one. If we're getting a 3rd car at some point then I'd like it to be something which DD could/ would drive, not a *toy* car for him which wouldn't actually get much use! (where's a rolling eyes smiley when you need one?!)
His old one was lovely but ended up being scrapped, sadly

Thanks greent , someone trying is trying to put me off at last
I can't lie , its a want not a needdh is been itching to buy a classic car for the last couple of years and he would want an mg which I also love but cost more to repair and run (we have had both cars before) argh, I think I'm just rebelling as its going to be a long slog over the next seven years to pay everything off , and I'm being quite selfish.
Hi al, I wish I could afford an exempt one , some are tens of thousandsoh and my dd is very sensible, well probably more so than me :rotfl:
