Morning NewGirly, your post made me smile. I completely agree about borrowing small children. I used to arrange Easter egg hunts and games. DS would happily stay in bed until mid morning now and has said he doesn't want Easter eggs this year
Good luck with your challenge. That's to stick to £300, not to find someone who would like to swap kids for a while :rotfl::rotfl:

Mine are 6 and 3 and are great fun. Dd belief in the Easter bunny last year was heart warming. We were holidaying with a group of friends and had a fab Easter egg hunt. Do grow up too fast don't they.
Hope you can come up with a good family day out.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Mine are grown up and left home but no doubt I'll be getting a 'mummy.........where's my egg' telephone call
. That's in addition to the obligatory boxes of Cadbury's Easter Cakes which get eaten like :EasterBunbut without the hesitation :rotfl:.

I have 2 teens and 2 primary school ones (9 and almost 6) so have the best (and worst) of it!
Smallest wakes just before 6am like clockwork and teens regularly go to bed after me as I'm too tired for any late nights
I'd not worry about things with them over the Easter hold, ng - my teens are happy enough with eggs and a cinema trip. DD has even (seriously!) requested that I DON'T bake choc cakes, muffins, cookies or rocky road over the hols as there'll be too much chocolate about lol! All 3 boys, however, don't agree with this!!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Hmm, lots of replies but still no offers to take the kids
Manic week this week, the £300 challenge starts today and I have already spent lots! Well to be fair its some of the birthday money my parents gave me for my 40th so it doesn't countI've just booked a night in a hotel in Surrey £88 plus cashback , and am about to book tickets to the brooklands motor museum nearby. Its a mini themed weekend with hundreds of my fav car to list after
Dh doesn't know I'm going to surprise him tomorrow, its been a very stressful week work wise and we have the property auction on Monday so I thought I'd just do it. Kids are at parents and bags are packed.
Slightly more mse I went to aldi last night and used some of their coupons to get some chocolate bunnies and lambs cheap, I made dh come with me so I could get double. I try not to take him food shopping ever as he gets carried away buying himself cheesecakes and peanuts :rotfl:
Need to cleanup ,hopefully back later for diary catch ups .MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
We had a good weekend away, although it I'd rain all day at the outdoor mini show,. The hotel was lovely but we had problems , firstly no water in either shower or bath, toilet working intermittently and the we got woken at 6am by the fire alarm. They were fullybooked so we could not change and I've still not got to speak to the manger, they have offered us free breakfast plus £10 off the bill which is pretty bad I think considering that paid extra for a superior room.
Spending from the £300 is at £70 on petrol so far, I topped up with birthday money for the trip away so I didn't waste any of the budget .MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

£20 spent in Mr t express yesterday, and £51 birthday money spent on fence and shed stain as I'm tarting up the garden , dark green cheap stuff for the fences and posh willow green for the ridiculously large log cabin, dh has informed me that two tins is about a fifth of what we need so I may take it back anyway :rotfl:
I have just found out after a bit of research some info about the loan we have taken out for the company. As we couldn't get a mortgage we are trying to buy the unit we rent with various loans , we have personally borrowed £35k on a rate of 7% . The repayments are £694 for 60 months and the company is paying that amount to us monthly to cover it.
However I have found out that we are able to clear the loan as we see fit and still claim the same £694 for 60 months (its a loan to the company at an agreed rate with the paperwork to back it up) so in other words we can pay it quicker or try to transfer some to a lower rate.
So I guess financially its better to Clear the loan before the CCS and mortgage as the rates higher. We are still liable for the loan if the firm goes under as its in dhs name, but it will take ages to clear £35 k and mean although possibily we save a few pounds , I can't pay anything off our mortgage for ageswe will still of course have extra money for the next 5 years but as dhs possibly having to make a second pay cut of 5% again we will be losing hundreds out of our wages so it doesn't feel like much of a gain!
Anyway moaning over, I'm off with my best friend and her baby for a coffee today, then back to tackle my shamefully dirty house and the ironing pile thats casting a shadow over one side of the dining room as it's so bigMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Sounds like presents in our family, my dad bought my mum a garden full of mushroom compost as she was re-doing the garden before they put the house on the market!MFW 2025 No. 7 £1530/£2700

Hi aj hope you are well, mushroom compost sounds an exciting birthday gift :rotfl: I must admit my mum would be very cross if she knew I spent birthday money on fence stain , a posh handbag would be her preference I think
Having leftover whatever veg are in the fridge pasta tonight , dh has been taking up the top of the dead lawn,we need to re turf again. It was tempting to pave the whole garden but time and money mean it won't get done against this year. Its only 6x 4 metres so does die off easily with the dog.
In-laws are visiting tomorrow and lunch at my parents Sunday , other than that not much planned this weekend except a bit of sprucing in the garden.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
