:rotfl: the dress was fine thanks alchemilla
Sorry for the slow update it's been manic. The speeches went ok, mine was VERY shortDh's went well, he is severely dyslexic but read it out perfectly :T quite an emotional one about his first interview at the company when he was 15, and about his old boss that he took over from after he passed away with a brain tumor, I was very proud of him, and lots of guest came over and said they loved it and well done.
Work today , then gym and I've not even unpacked yet. I need to get everything washed and dried then packed again ready for the weekend away at alton towers. I have a budget of £90 for the trip, £40 still to pay on the balance (only £70 pn for a lovely farm cottage that sleeps 6) plus petrol £50-60? So a little shortfall I think as although we are taking all food with us, we still need the odd cuppa and maybe a burger for the kids at some point.
Nothing, to report with the finances, all that's being paid at the moment is IO on the mortgage , minimums on the 0% cc , and the loan repayments , it will be like this for the next couple of months as we need to buy the shares at work.
Cash shopping is going well, still putting £10 a week in my tin towards xmas ( note that's towards not for Xmasstill too much being spent!) no surplus's yet but its early days and it's been a busier than usual few weeks, hopefully soon I can get a jar and tip surplus into it.
Surveys have not been done for a fortnight, updates not done, diaries not read, batch cooking and breadmaking not done, tiny op's to the mortgage not done, while I'm on a roll, unpacking / washing / cleaning not done either.
On the plus side in life, a lovely friend has moved back from Thailand to home this week after almost 20 years there. Its a bit sad as it's just her and her son not her dh as they are having a trial separation but I can't wait to see her hopefully later this week.
Hope everyone is wellMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Glad to hear the speeches went well! :Ta penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library0

cheers pearla.
I've had the day off work today ill, I do feel guilty but really couldn't go in as I felt quick sick, feeling better now though must have been a short bug.
I have just got off the phone to the Chelsea, due to being very unorganised lately I didn't send off the paperwork for the change of deal (ends 31st may) oh dear, they now wont let you ring up and ay what deal you want to switch to, you have to spend an HOUR on the phone going through every single detail, wages, kids etc. the lot!
One interesting thing that transpires is that dh could potentially be considered as employed not as a company director of a company making losses. basically able to get a new mortgage , so I'm going to have a further look online and investigate before jumping in to a new deal with them.
The rules on mortgages changed in some way today, not sure how exactly (except the long detailed phone call) but worth another look.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
After lots of research it looks like we may have a chance at remortgaging with another company :j nothing definite , but it seems they will take dh's wages into account. So next decision is do we put the debts in with it , I think we may have to, to be able to remortgage (due to debt repayments reducing amount loaned). I'm very excited we may be able to move though, we have been trapped with the chelsea for yearsMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

I feel like I've got a new lease of life for oping today
After joining in 2010 we paid 30k off in the first two years, then things have been no where near as good since , plus lots of spending on building work.
I think I have made a plan:
Dh is probably getting some money in the next few months from his mums flat in Spain, not sure exactly how much but we think enough to clear the 0% cc's (£14k ) fingers crossed.
So remortgage (again fingers crossed) with the nationwide
£146,000
£11,900 (loft loan remaining)
£157,900 total
Then if/when the money comes back from Spain buy premium bonds until the deals run out on cards, they end July 2015/June 2016 then cash in and clear them. Less risk of us spending it in the meantime
So no debts to be juggling and paying any more just good old fashioned oping
With the nw on some deals you can make unlimited ops , others 10% of the balance. But the rates are much better
Back to work today and out this evening, so will have to wait until tomorrow to apply
Edit just made a £1 mortgage op for the first time in ages :jMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Still lots left on the list to do today, we are off about 5am tomorrow.
Today I'm meeting up with my best friend and our friend who has just returned from Thailand after many years :j so excited.
Roll on next week when it's the holidays , I'm going to try and start work at 4am ish while the kids are off so I can get home at lunchtime, life is such a whirlwind at the moment I want some time at home to potter around and do some sorting out of paperwork, gardening , cooking etc. this year is just flying by, only 264 days until XmasMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
You sound super busy Newgirly, glad speeches went well. Great news about the mortgage, be good to consolidate debts, we will be MF one day!
Has the loft conversion been worth it? We spent a fortune on a kitchen diner but it made us so much happier at home.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
