Hi cath, lovely to see you 2.99% is a great z5 yr fix
I've been having problems with my iPad all weekend, it won't open lots of pages and won't let me look at photos pr thank people on here
Not much to report this weekend , it's been a quiet one and would have been a Nsd couple of days except I gave dh some of my birthday money to take ds2 to the cinema.
I've done a meal plan for this week tonight and a shopping list for ald* , I think realistically I will shop there twice a week not once, so much great cheap salad and fruit etc. I think £100 a week is a good estimate of food spending, more than we used to spend, cheaper than mr t , but much more of what of what we fancy rather than aways going for cheaper meals all the time.
Sadly our merlin passes run out in a few weeks, we have one day at thorpe park planned plus the two days at alton towers in a few weeks, I am sooo tempered to renew as it has been a great couple of years having family days out that the kids WANT to go on :rotfl: the plan is to maybe get some two for ones in summer to go back to thorpe park for the day near their birthdays (all 3 are only 13 days apart) and at halloween instead of our usual trip to alton towers to throw a big party at home instead  that should keep them all happy.
In good news it's only 8 days until we get paid and I can get the first full months cash food budget
In bad news it's only 12 days until I go away for the weekend with dh for his institutes ladies weekend away where he is president and we BOTH have to do a speech  give it a few more days and I won't be sleeping at night! Plus I was supposed to be a size 10 before then :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Ooh, good luck with the speech, newgirly.Good idea, must say I've not thought of using frozen veg for fajitas before, I shall try itI have switched from winter decor to summer in the new bedroom sounds crazy I know but is easily done as all the walls are white! I shall tuck away all the red tartan stuff until later in the year now
PS. Yay for Ald!a penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. Hi NewGirly, I ditched T£sco a few months ago - hard to articulate why but I felt ripped off.
We are fortunate as we have all the main supermarkets within easy reach and tend to shop in L!dl for the majority, W@trose for special bits and the market for ME bits and pieces and spices etc.
It's saved us loads and I no longer moan about being ripped off to Mr T, as walking round
I think I missed your birthday, so belated greetings.
I love the idea of summer and winter accessories:)

Thanks for popping in pearla and Tilly
That's exactly how I have felt in mr t Tilly, lettuce on Tuesday £0.50 lettuce on weds £1.00 , lettuce in ad* £0.49 every time I've been. :T we are eating much better buying things like strawberries etc. which would be a treat in mr t due to the cost.
We may possibly have some good news financially this year, dh's mum is selling a flat in Spain (she is Spanish) that she always said was for him and his brothers , so its possible we may get some extra money at some point, at a guess around £10- £15 k maybe.
Even if we did get the money and paid it off the mortgage or debts we would still be way off target clearing the mortgage in 8 years, which tells me perhaps I should just extend the mortgage. I think psychologically it would be better to have a repayment mortgage at a level we can always make the payments and overpay very regularly , than one with a shorter term with high payments that have to be made.
So I think its finally time to bite the bullet and extend the termI have to be realistic , I reduced the term from 33 to 12 four years ago , but since then we have borrowed 30k to get the loft converted.
On the upside the house has gone up in value quite a bit , partly due to the area we are in plus the extra bedroom'/bathroom, so the mortgage is about 50% of the house value, I f we ever change provider that should help.:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
What a long day, its manic at work at the moment and dh will be working Saturdays for quite some time yet I think. We are planning to take the kids to thorpe park Sunday so not much rest this weekend for him
I had a try on of my outfit for our "ladies" weekend next week, its a beautiful phase eight colbalt blue very long Grecian style dress I've borrowed from my best friend. It fits ok, but unfortunately I can't get my hooves into dd's prom shoes that i planned to wear with it. they cost £68 and we are the same size (6) , I tried to get her to get the 6.5 at the time but she insisted they would be too big, tonight she said they hurt so much prom night she took them off. Very annoying as they match perfectly and they still sell them in next.
So jobs for tomorrow are:
Buy diamante sparkly shoes that fit and I can stay upright in
Buy Spray fake tan (its backless )
Tights
Nail varnish
New jeans for ds1 - he has lost his only pair that fit ?!
Think about speech (had my first proper scary dream this week about it :rotfl:)
Write a few more lists so I don't forget what I need to doMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
There must be so many pairs of barely worn sparkly shoes sat in people's wardrobes!! My DD1 got a lovely pair from Brantano for her prom ~ worn once only & probably never again. I was going to suggest looking on eb@y but I suppose that's a bit risky size-wise & plus you might not fancy second-hand (or should that be foot) shoes
Btw, T3sco had half price fake tan (good stuff but can't remember the name) when I was there on Monday. It was near the shower gels in my store.'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Good luck with the speech newgirly! Dress sounds lovely - do share a pic if you can.Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)
