  • Hi Newly,

On the DH trade thing, if you can be positive that will help his stress, so look at it as a year of being in the public eye but after that he won't have to do it again for years.

Do you really need new outfits or do you have a dress hire shop near you?

Hi polly wolly thanks for posting, I will probably buy something from flea bay, or else borrow from my lovely friend with a much better wardrobe than me. ;)

I have just had a call from my mobile supplier and they have discontinued my tariff , instead of £5.10 its now £5 per month for 250 mins and unlimited texts. If only the kids phones were as cheap!

It gave me the push I needed to ring sky again, we have been paying £5 a month for the last 3 months as I threatened to leave, which has run out now. Cancelling is a no go for our family, we use it a lot, So although cheeky I thought I would ring again and said I was planning to cancel and they have offed me another 3 months at £5 a month.

    Hi Newgirly,

Thanks for dropping in on my diary :o

Your updates are among those which I have found inspiring and helped to get me started, though I must admit I haven't read from the start, though I will do when I get a chance :D

My mobile contract is due for renewal and I would really like one the same as yours at £5 a month, but I haven't found such a good deal anywhere!

Hey newgirly - I know what you mean. I talk about money all the time and I think my DH gets a bit bored of me going on tbh - but if I didn't we would have no goals or achievements (well I like to think so anyway) so keep chipping away. We will reap the rewards one day.

Also - don't fret too much about uni and driving lessons for the kids, my parents didn't pay into those for me at all (not for want of trying but rather through their own debt pressures) and I survived. I saved for ages working part time jobs and finally bought an intensive driving lesson course which i did over my summer term 2nd year of uni which I passed first time and would recommend to anyone time / money constrained. Uni is also not necessarily for everyone, my brother has gotten on in life excellently and is well qualified without going to uni so best not to worry about things that haven't happened yet eh :) (not that I don't do that constantly...)

Also, I'm the same with Sky - keep ringing up to cancel and they give us the £5/month thing for 3 months at a time. One day I really will cancel! :s

Hi matt, nice of you to drop in, I seriously would not even try to go back through my diary its thousands of pages of moaning about money :rotfl:
My mobile is with v*irgin and is £10 a month but I get a £5 loyalty discount every month, this could be as I never upgrade though I'm not sure.

Hi louby Lou, my dd Definatly wants to go to uni ( she may well change her mind though) my twins however I don't think have thought further than tomorrow :D
Out of interest how many times have sky let you go three months for £5? Please say its AGES :D

A nice sunny day for a change :D

I'm off to lakeside shopping centre to get dd's prom shoes, the dressmaker who is altering the dress needs them for tues. The boys have wisely decided to go to granny's instead.

Dh at work again, strangely he seems a lot less stressed now he is working 7 days a week, I suppose more is getting done so less to worry about, not exactly a work life balance though.

10p op made yesterday and today. We find out what dh's new pay will be next week, different tax code plus monthly instead of weekly pay, it's swings and roundabouts but has meant we need to find a lot as we need a months money in the acct at the start of the month not dribs and drabs throughout.

The loft fund (cost of work only ) is currently now £1154.50 short plus all the extras we need , eek it's getting close now , should be a June start!

We are off to thorpe park today, dh has taken his first day off for weeks (or is it months!) he really needs a rest however if we did not go then he would still go to work today.

I am aiming for a Nsd except petrol, maybe a cup of tea if I'm desperate. I have make a picnic and we even have free parking there now, just need to pray for no 3 hour queues :D

We got dd's prom shoes and bag yesterday, relatively easily really , I think we are both not the keenest of shoppers and prefer the coffee part of a shopping trip. My mum and dad have kindly paid for both for her which is a big help, at over £100 for both it was not that cheap.

Tomorrow is the start of a new more motivated me , I think it may be the week we start to use the gym passes  plus I want to spend a good while doing (another;) )detailed financial plan of the year. Also I want to get back into doing lots of surveys and earnings a bit extra, last year I made lots of extra cash , over 2k , this year has been terrible though , so I need to up my game.

    Have a great sunday :D

Hi newgirly - this is my third month getting Sky for £5 - each time I call I fully intend to cancel and when they ask whats wrong I say its too expensive for me to keep on. If you say you watch it they will pick up on that and offer other channels as an incentive so I suggest sticking to the money excuse. Once I've saved for a HD PVR I will actually cancel, but this keeps getting put of for 3 months at a time....!

I keep trying to get my parents to threaten to leave sky to get it reduced. Well done on your £5 a month deal, I'm terrible at bargaining - I'd probably end up agreeing to give them an extra £5 a month :P

Hi louby loo and Becky thanks for posting, I am currently on my 4 month of £5 sky, long may it continue :D

Thorpe park was good yesterday, there were hardly any queues for a change and it only took just over an hour to get there, much better than our worlds worst record of 4 1/2 hours. Plus only a £3.20 spend on ice cream and petrol.

Today I was gong to post all my new aims and challenges , but I have done more practical stuff instead:

1). Made a batch of washing gloop
2). Bought some coriander and basil plants and planted with stuff I bought last week and now have a herb garden.
3).bought a DIY Sauvignon blanc home few box
4). Not mse but bought a cheap jet wash to clean my yucky decking
5). Made a few portions of tasty gigante plaki froma girl called jack's blog, my new fav dish, very easy cheap and healthy.

Dh has got a bit of extra money than I thought in his first monthly pay packet , so I might buy a cheap patio set as our has rotted and put the rest towards the loft shortfall.:D
