Hi smlsave, thanks. Will give it a go with the coriander
Hi nto, I usually stop myself spending, oddly sometimes I find I'm more likely to buy something huge and expensive than cheap, good job sense usually wins over!
Today I have bought yet another gr*upon, a game of bowling for six and a burger chips and drink each for £14 the lot, they also have laser quest too so I was going to book that as well and do it for a birthday party for the boys this year However they don't want it! Little ungrateful watsits , so dd is going to use it to take her friends out as a treat after the exams, so all is well in the end I guess
Op made today is just a measly 10p again, I should really work out how long it would take to pay off at 10p a day, a few thousand years I should think :rotfl:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
It seems to be getting so much busier on this board lately, good news for all of us and bad news for the banks
I feel a bit stuck in a rut recently, dh working 7 days and dd revising all the time has mean we have not done much as a family. I was hoping to make use of the national trust free weekend, however there is not much near us, a barn about an hour away which does not seem worth the petrol.
Dh had a meeting last night and has been made president of the association which he belongs to of the trade he is in. He has avoided doing it for years after being asked, and I am proud of him, but we will have to pay for a weekend away for the whole family in a posh hotel plus all the outfits etc. which will mean possibly no summer holiday againI am not sure that he realises this yet , plus we both have to do a speech to a couple of hundred people  am I the worst wife in the world for being a bit worried about it all? Probably yes :rotfl: I just hope there is not going to be too much pressure put on him as he is still very stressed at work.
Off to hurry the troops for school, back for long overdue diary catch ups later.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Well done to your DH. The having to make speeches sounds scary. A posh hotel for a weekend sounds expensive but it could be quite nice too, I think a positive spin might be needed.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Yes I know, thanks smlsave , and nto.
just being a bit of a wuss about the speeches I think.
I feel like I am constantly thinking about money at the moment and almost wishing the year away, there are so many things to pay for , today alone has been 2x school trips at £6.50@ and the cost of one exam paper £15.50( not compulsory but dd wanted to see what she she got wrong in the mocks) kids are so expensive and we are bordering on the driving lesson/ uni fees years with no savings :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Just re read the above post and realised I need to get a grip and stop letting money get me down so much at the moment. If we manage to get the loft done and not clear any of the debts then so be it, there are so many people struggling out there at the moment I have no right to complain.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

I think that occasionally the whole money saving thing can get a bit 'heavy' and it's like you can't switch off from it.
Try to enjoy the dry weather today (hope it is where you are) and don't think about money at all if you can help it, esp driving lessons/uni feesCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Have read somewhere recently on one of Martin's blogs or articles that he advised using student loans to pay for uni fees not savings. Something to do with not having to pay it back until they earn over a certain amount, and then written off after a certain period of time. I'm sure he said this was better than paying up front.
I don't want mine to be left with debt after uni - but thought I could help them to pay it off for them when they started work if you see what I mean?
Can't remember the exact wording but would be worth searching for to find the exact advice.Re-mortgaged 20/04/12 MTiT-T3 No.7Start balance £89611.10 + £22500 = £112111.10/Current balance £85436.53

Thanks smlsave and Megala for popping in, I'm sure you are right about the uni fees, I just want to be able to help with all the costs involved. One step at a time I guess, I think the implications of taking out such a big loan for the loft are starting to sink in.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
