Feeling a bit urgh today after too much wine last night:o

I don 't think the day will improve much as we have to start sorting through the mounds and mounds of cr*p in the loft, not a great job anyway but made much worse by the fact that dh suffers from extreme loft rage. Every time he goes up he is surprised by how much is up there and it make him cross:rotfl:
I've never been up there as I can only get half way up the ladder :o

So wish me luck, we might even find hidden treasure (more likely a few dead mice )

Well we survived the day with no imminent divorce yet :rotfl: I have to say it went really well, I don't think we have ever got anything down from the loft without words/arguments in years!

Nto, I think you must be brave even thinking about going up with all those big spiders

Usually it's me who likes to keep stuff, but this time I have been ruthless, although I have got a couple of archive boxes each for the kids "memory " bits, baby grows, fav teddies, funny pictures and stories etc for them to keep, plus Lots of bits of their I can't let go.

We have got through over 60 black bags and are about 1/4 of the way through : we've tipped a lot, charity shopped some and have about 12 bags to take for cash for clothes ( never done that before) but its a good start.:D

  • That's fantastic progress.

Not sure we could do all that without both of us shouting at each other :rotfl:

  • Well done on your progress in your loft. Ours is full can't get anymore up there. My husband gets stroppy when he has to go up can't find anything were looking for.
I wish we had done a loft conversion years ago. It's too late now really as my daughter is off to uni this year but it would have made so much difference. My sons always complaining about the size of his small room. For sleepovers they have to sleep downstairs. So you gong the right thing and once it's done you'll have no doubts.

Hi miss money penny thanks for posting, I'm sorry you did'nt manage to get yours done but to be honest we may have left it too late too really, the days of sleepovers have really gone now as dd is 16 in summer. You can 't give them everything and in a way it's nice to have brought up kids who have not been spoilt and hopefully (not always the case with my lot!) appreciate what they do get. :) Anyway who wants to be in a room next door to loads of teenagers on a sleepover, downstairs is the best place for them I say :rotfl:

The loft guy came and will give us a quote later in the week, I have a feeling it will have gone up quite a lot in 3 years, I have a no from a friend to get a second quote from as well, but I don't think there's a rush as we need to save up the difference in cost, the first guy has a waiting list and can't start until about August which I suppose is a good sign that he is popular.

I have never, ever been in my loft.....although a while back did fantasise about doing a lovely conversion.
I now have my other fantasy 'grand design' list to work through, however had my kids been younger I would have definitely looked into the - I can't wait to hear all about yours:)

Wow a loft conversion, I am so jealous. I would love to do it as my DD is in the small box room and she absolutely hates it. She starts senior school in September and would love to have a desk to do her homework on but there is only room for a bed and a wardrobe as she also has the boiler cupboard in there.
The compromise we have made is that she is swapping rooms with her brother who never uses his room (the bigger room) He used to share it with his big brother.
My mortgage should be paid off in maybe 3- 3 1/2 years but then I will either save to get a new kitchen and bathroom done or a loft room. (dreaming!) but I dont want to get a loan to do it.
I know how you feel about thinking you are back to square one with the amount you have paid off over the years but like others have said your family life will be better for it.
My end goal is to pay off mortgage, save for another 5-6 years and move to the coast which is why I dont really want to spend much more on the house I am in now as I dont see it as my forever home. Would love to buy a run down house and make it fabulous like homes under the hammer lol

Good Luck with your loft conversion, you will be so glad you did it when its all done
