Hi lulabelle, we haven't had the quotes back yet but have a friends quote from last year with a slightly smaller loft but was in a semi that needed the hip to gable extension - where you have a sloping roof that needs straightening and that was £28,200 for a bedroom and ensuite. So around that or a bit more I guess.

We currently have a 3 bed mid terrace and ( 2 large bedrooms and one tiny box room) and 15,12&12 year olds , we did think about putting 2 rooms in the loft plus an ensuite and putting the twin up
there, but then I thought s*d it lets have a big fab room for us :D

They had agreed on who was having the big/box room but have now changed their minds and are arguing already over it, so the new plan is to turn the large current bedroom into a smaller room , with a walk in wardrobe for them both next door.

Ours works out about 19 ft x 13 ft for the bedroom and an ensuite just big enough to fit a bath, separate shower, toilet and basin, and will be a full length dormer across the back (tiled) and 2 large velux on the
front plus a smaller velux over the staircase.

We have a quite wide hall so don't need to steal any space from the bedrooms for the staircase it will just continue around like the one below, they also replace all the doors in the house to fire doors, and I've asked them to include the cost of new bannisters downstairs to match. The only thing they don"'t include is a council charge(building regs) and the bathroom suite and tiles for ensuite and flooring.

Sorry don't know how much yet, am keen to find out too! I hope they manage to find a way to wor out how you could do yours, but like you say it may get very expensive, where abouts are you based as they say prices are dearer in London, so it might be a bit cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks for the info newgirly, sounds fantastic. We're based in the East Midlands, prices are fairly reasonable here.....

However, it's going to be a big job - they think we may need to take the roof off in order to build it again with different supporting joists. Scaffolding alone is £4k.

We have a 4 bed detached currently. 3 double rooms and single room which I have as my office. If the did the conversion the first floor would change slightly as we want to have one side of the floor as a big bedroom for us plus a decent size ensuite with bath, double shower, sink and loo etc. the other side of the floor would stay the same size wise - I'd keep the singe room as my office (work from home) and the other double room would be a guest bedroom. The LC would be 2 decent size double bedrooms and then a bathroom, the boys would go up there....

We're hoping that it won't exceed 40/45, but really not sure at the moment. We won't know anything for a week or so.

If we can't do it then I'm going to console myself with new bedding!

Fingers crossed that your quotes come back ok x

That sounds fantastic, I do hope you manage to get it done. I think when it's done I won't want to move somewhere else as we will never get a house the same size around here unless we win the lottery!
Will just try and make the best of what we have and hopefully get the mortgage and huge loan paid off before we are ancient.

Fingers crossed , if you can't get it done though enjoy those new bedclothes.:D

10p op yesterday, same today :D

1st day of half term and 2 out of 3 are still in bed, they will have to get up soon as we are going to a friends for lunch.

I've started sl*mfast again today, after the upset ofweighing myself this morning:rotfl: I need to stick to something as I found so many nice summer clothes in the loft that won't fit unless I do, I really don't want to spend money on new stuff this year, especially in a bigger size

Need to sort out some homemade veggie dinners for me to freeze so I don't risk the cheese sarnie crisps and wine dinner that's an easy fall back, particularly when you've cooked different dinners for everyone else and can't be bothered with yourself.

I know what you about the weight newgirly - I always managed to eat whatever I liked, then after having babies (youngest now 18!) BAMM!!!! The weight just crept on - and on, and on. In the new year I gave up everything I loved (wine, crisps, choc and biscuits) and started attending a class. It's not been easy, however like you I refuse to buy new clothes when I have perfectly lovely (but far too tight!) clothes in my wardrobe:o

    Good luck!

It's a wee circuit (30 mins) in total with each machine lasting 45 secs....it's a nationwide women only gym - Curv*s. a month in I'd lost half a stone and 12.75 overall inches! I go three times a week and still eat bread, pizza, chips, butter, cheese etc.

I'm honestly 'in the zone' where wine's concerned, however have started eating dark chocolate squares;)

The thing is, I know if I followed a 'stricter' diet I'd be there a lot sooner:o My aim is to get to size I would like to be (which is preferably a 10!), then be able to have wine/crisps however with no weight gain effects due to my 3X weekly exercise.

Also, I would rather not look at photographs of myself being a right lardarse:D

Keep with what you are doing Natty - if you had a stricter diet you'd lose the weight quicker but I bet it would all just go on again once you'd reached your goal and started to eat normally again.

A sensible diet it is much better for the long run as you're more likely to change your habits permanently.

I'll let you know re the LC Newgirly - builder man and structural engineer are popping round this evening, so hopefully we will know more sooner than later...
