No surveys, 10p op today
Another manic day, still not finished packing for our night away tomorrow yet, it's only one night but when the kids stay at my parents they take half the house with them.
I've given myself an mse makeover today to smarten myself up a bit before we go , hair dye, eyebrow shape, facial and nails all at home total cost £5
The meal planning went well this week although I did swap a few days around, but all in all it was better than usual. Have not managed to do next weeks yet which I was supposed to do today but we are away until sat and then have dinner round the inlays Sunday so I won't bother until Monday I think.
not had much time lately so will try and catch up on lots of diaries as am feeling like I'm losing touch with it all a bit.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Regarding the mortgage try First Direct and keep the over payments in the savings account and it is then offset against it. Meaning, you still have access to it for a rainy day. Just in case things go wrong and you need extra chocolate!!
Best advice, work offshore. I do and I pay mine off in 5 years. plus they feed me for 6 months. most importantly is the wife gets the sky remote for 6 months.
Chins up and head my advice!!0 -

I'm currently making use of my 30 mins free wifi at the premier inn, just had a very deep hot bath and have the heating cranked up to a tropical 20degrees, well worth £19 for the night, the hotel is lovely!
We are about to go and visit dh's BIL and family , so I will be having some serious house price envy as they have just bought a nice. 3 bed with big garden for the same price as a 1 bed council flat near us, about £140k - its not fairMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Hi newgirly:wave:
The sound of a lovely 3 bed for £140k is heaven......but where are such houses? I was googling the other night throughout Yorkshire and could find anything similar for under £250k?? I thought it was supposed to be cheaper up here.....0 -
Hi, the house is in north hykeham just outside Lincoln , and was lovely a new build and bigger than ours. Too far away for me though anll my friends and family are in ridiculously priced Essex
LIncoln was nice, we went in the cathedral but had parked n a 30 min bay, however it was £6 to get in and I was too embarrassed to walk out so we whipped around quickly and it was stunning, the good news is we can get in for a year once we have paid once, so hopefully we might go back again and visit.

House up the road for sale the same as ours with loft room has just gone up for£265 k, ours is probably worth about £240 k, can't see the other one going for more than stamp duty threshold of £250k. Seems possible that if we do the loft we won't get the £30 k back if we do decide to move in the future, it's so many what if's but I don't want to waste any money. Argh, I'm sick of thinking about lofts, houses and money.

No surveys again, 10p OP:D
Not much to report today, lunch at the inlaws and not a lot else done yet.
I need to do a list for tomorrow as I have a stack of washing even though we were only away for a day plus the house needs a good clean.
The meal planning for this week did not get done and I've really spent the money that was for that while we were away.:o I shall have to have a rummage through the freezer again as I'm sure we have virtually all we need for the week except fresh.
After a good strong start this year I feel a bit like I've fizzled out a bit with the effort and challenges. I need to do a monthly round up for jan and update the mf2013 challenge figures. Definatly could do better !MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -

Still not got around to updating last months figures, I've been wasting hours looking into mortgages, trying to see if we can add to the mortgage to get the loft done and have also been looking into whether it would benefit us to pay an early redemption fee and get a better mortgage rate ( whether we do the loft or not) The end result is no-one wants usAll is good and we can borrow more than we owe now, but the fact that dh has shares in his company and its not made a profit means they won't consider us.
Basically he needs a profit for 3 years running whatever his wages are and thats too long to wait when the kids are 13,13 and 16 in a few months, and the twins bicker and disturb each other all the time.
So, being the impatient person I am the options are:
Save a around 5K then borrow 25k getting a loan (if possible!)
Save for years and pay cash, by this time dd is an adult and I may have throttled the boys
Don't get loft done and put a partiton wall through the centre of the twin's room for some thing like 1k with new flooring etc.
(down side being they have a big triple window that the wall would have to go through the middle of, I can be done but will look a bit odd from the back garden.) Room size currently about 13 x 12ft I think.
Downside : If I chop the boys bedroom in half we won't get any extra space, dd will still be in the tiniest boxe room ever and no extra bathroom in the loft.
Plus side :about 29k cheaper :rotfl:
What would you do in my position?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
