Didn't they update Vista to 'Fat64' (exFAT) with a service pack that caused all sorts of carnage? I remember something in the distant past about it causing issues with USB sticks? Nothing solid, but it was mentioned in a few places.
NTFS is not ideal for Flash drives. The way it works effectively wears the drive out faster than FAT or Ext2/3/4
Yeh, this machine is x64, but even the [ if I remember correctly ] x86 O/S won't deal with 32bit format.
I assume ' billy boy ' decided to make try to sure only NTFS drives would be supported, of course if you plug any 32bit into Win7 / HDD / USB / whatever it just works.
It's the same as he decided to force everyone into ' live mail ' but every copy of Win7 still has a working Outlook Express hidden and usable.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. does this make a difference. when i plug my usb into my pc that works in the dvd. it shows up in My Computer at the top listed as one of the Hard Disks.
The problem Stick, comes up under Devices with Removable Storage?
I dloaded that Easeus and it will only allow me to choose one of the 3 hard disks on PC not the removable
also the working stick is listed as FAT and the new stick FAT320 -
I found that FAT32Formatter was successful when even swissknife failed. I have formatted a 160GB HDD with it successfully.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0

Its not that swissknife 'fails'. It just needs unplugging and plugging back in for it to work properly:idea:0 -

- I've no experience of the ' Easeus ' product, so I can't make a comment.
- FAT32 has wide support and a maximum filesize limit of 4GB so unless you're using large files just go with FAT32.
- What you call FAT is FAT16 the predecessor of FAT32
- I'm surprised that your pendrive is on FAT and not FAT32, FAT32 has greatly reduced cluster sizes.
Maybe most pen drives come on FAT16, it's not a question I've ever thought about. From your point of view if your working stick is listed as FAT then just format the new [ non-working ] stick the same, as FAT.

Aye aliEnRIK, that's exactly what I found, it's easy to see why people think it didn't work when Windows lies to you and tells you it hasn't. :beer:Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Sorry enigma52, I'm not going to spend the next 6 months correcting broken computers where people trying to avoid ' windows live ' goose their machines as a result of my advice.
It's one of those many ' loose lips - sink ships ' moments !
