Thanks Jellyhead,
It is getting easier day by day - Its more the guilt than anything else. Now I try not to feel guilty and when I do have a touch of the blues, I know its normal and will pass.
I do find myself thinking about work though

jellyhead, in the cold light of day & sobriety, that comes across as far too flippant given the subject matter. it wasn't intended to trivialise your family's experienceSwan wrote:I've just come back from havng a birthday drink with my firstborn, he's 34 tomrrow, so I'm a bit sozzled ... it's probably more luck than judgement that I survived, but I'm here now, although a bit !!!!!!
I apologise

Well, not strong enough to read this thread...or comment on my experiences of PND but needless to say...with the right support and medication you can recover and live a happy life with your family. I will never be the same person again after what I went through..but I can say now I have feelings of genuine happiness which I thought I would never have at one point...All I'm trying to say is get help...get help quickly and if need be push anyone you know who may be suffering very hard to get help because I suffered for a long time before someone pushed me and made me see my doctor...best wishes0

Roversbabe,
Your still very early on after birth so don't beat yourself up - it takes us all a while to settle into new motherhood. When I had my daughter five years ago after years of fertility treatment, I found myself so anxious that I couldn't have a bath as I thought something awful would happen to her when I wasn't around. I cried for weeks after her birth and felt so guilty about my tears. GP said it was total sleep deprivation and not to worry. I would check baby half hourly during the night for months. I now have a 15 week old, and life is so much easier this time. I no longer check to see she's fine and if anyone offers help I jump at the chance and nip to shops or bed!0
