evening!
NPM - (((hugs)))
Stroppy - thanks for looking up the info:T we havent had the birds out since but will be on our guard when we do - probably wont be till Sunday now as its pigeon racing Saturday so we daren't have them out in case they join the racers that pass over us.
Sunny- I forgot to get a pic- was very sad to see her go, the man at the yard said she sounded in great shape, he also said lots of bigger engined cars are being scrapped when there's not that much wrong with them because people just cant afford to run them anymore. with the cash we got for her we bought a jack and jill seat for the garden so we can sit and watch the pigeons with a cuppa.
Hester - good news!:T
I've had a lovely afternoons shopping in Hereford with DH, got a few bargains from Primark and did our shop at Asda. We took a flask of coffee and treated ourself to a cake each from the farmers market.
off for a browse before I catch up on my scrabble on FB xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
I'm bored ...but in a lazy kind of 'can't be bothered to do anything but bored' way
Friend and neighbour called in today sounding very sorry for herself and said she really wasn't well. she;d left her delivery job early last night as she was a danger to herself and others and was going to call in sick tonight. DH said if she sat in the car with him he would do the driving and delivering as she can't afford to lose a nights pay. She does lots for us - even went out to rescue DS1 at half past midnight on saturday when he ran out of petrol!
So thats his/our good deed for the day - we've had some good turns by others lately so its nice to be able to pass it onClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

That was really nice of your OH :A0 -
Hello all,
NPM...hugs, you cope so wonderfully well.
Hester....sorry to hear about the delay on OH's expenses....not on. Really had to laugh at your phone story, sorry you missed out on your beans on toast, but as others have said, you do have a way with words!
Ivyleaf...we have some stuff in the greenhouse, but wouldn't dream of putting anything out yet...but then I think its colder here than in your neck of the woods.
Made my first rhubarb tart this afternoon and we were very naughty and ate half of it for pudding....having had bacon, cabbage, beetroot and mash we really should have left it at that. Wasn't greatly pleased with the pastry, seem to have lost my touch somewhat, probably need to make some more often...really good for where my waistline used to be.
Csarina....know exactly what you mean about doing things for OH....get mad every so often and then he does things like cooking the dinner while I'm knitting so I soften again....they are only men after all!
Cold here to-day, fourteen flights made it out of Dublin before the shut-down due to ash, DS2 was due home for the weekend but don't think that he will make it now, apparently depends on what way the wind blows the ash....did have to laugh when I heard about someone on a UK radio station to-day who blamed the government and wondered what they were going to do about it....even our government isn't that bad!
Flutterby....really envy you living beside the sea....would be my ideal if I could think of ever moving again.
Tired to-night so heading for bed in a bit....hope everyone has a good sleep and that problems are lessened in whatever way.

Evening all
Just having a quick catch up before beddybyes
Hester .......You made me chuckle with that phone call:rotfl: sorry to hear you didn't get to eat your beans on toast though. I have a rule that at mealtimes be it lunch or dinner I do not answer the phone - I ring 1471 after the meal and see who it was calling then ring them if it is someone I know.
Went into Sainsbugs today - first time in ages and surprisingly got loads of good deals and found some vege - gel :j, I have been looking for it for agesit is only 9p dearer than ordinary gelatine DD is vegetarian and has been asking me to make marshmallows for her for ages because you can only buy vegetarian ones on line and they are £4.99 for 100g  so I can make her about 1kg for about £3
Had a bonfire tonight and got rid of a lot of old wood that was knocking about in the house, garden, shed so I had a shower cos I smelled of it.
Still it has given me loads of potash for my tomato plants:) Hopefully I won't get blight again this year
Oh well Horlicks at the ready and off to bed Sleep well all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

<<< I remember being phoned from a mobile phone company's Indian callcentre - the man said "Good afternoon Madam, my name is Alistair McDonald" and I said firmly "I don't think it is, you know." That wasn't on his script either....[/QUOTE]>>>

I too had an odd call a few months after my late husband died.
Man 'Can I speak to Mr W*****'
Me 'I'm sorry I'm afraid you can't'
Man 'But its most important that I speak with him'
Me 'I'm sorry but its just not possible'
Man 'I really must insist', extremely insistant by this time
Me I'm afraid you can't he died in July
Man 'Oh for f***s sake' ,followed by him slamming down the phone.
Luckily I have a sense of humour and knew that had my late husband been alive he,like me, would have folded up with laughter.
Shame I ruined this blokes day for him.I wonder if his phone called were logged by his company:rotfl::rotfl:
Had a good day today I went with my craft class to Cliftonville,Kent called the Walpole Bay Hotel to a hotel for a cream tea.Brilliant hotel with very 1930s feel to it as it has been restored by the owners as a living museum Well worth a visit if you live in the Kent area, the ceam tea was excellant as well, scones, jam and lots of whipped cream and tea in a proper pot with silver ware on the table.Apparently its been used for filming and has been on the t.v. several times Like stepping back 80 years, fantastic place, very Art Nouveau.
My poor DGS and his girlfriend are worrying themselves silly about whether they will be able to take off on Saturday morning for their weeks holiday in New York ,at the moment not a lot of info from the airports.I'm glad I'm going to the Cotswolds at least not a lot can go wrong as its only about 130 miles from home in Kent .Well time to toddle
night God Bless all here
