Curious George that's awful. I know that my sister won't be able to make it to my wedding but that's because she lives in australia and has 3 kids and a husband so the expense will be astronomical and I'm devastated (but secretly hoping she gets a lottery win :o). She's not told me a definite no yet but I'm not getting my hopes up, but for family in the same country to not bother is just beyond contemplation. Mind you I'm only just sending out the invites so guess I'll see how my H2B's family are, his uncle already said if we were getting married in a church he wouldn't come it's a good job it's in the local town hall then :rotfl:

Good luck with telling H2B xx

to be honest i dont think they would walk to the end of the road for him, which is such a shame as he is the nicest bloke you could ever meet,

we have some amazing friends who are do a great job of being replacement family, but i think the better your friends are it can make you realise how bad your family is! theres a reason why the old saying of "you can choose your friends but not your family" is so popular!

Curious George, I would ignore the comment about 'being funny' and just support your OH. Maybe make the suggestion that sometime after or before the wedding you could go up and have a drink with them, if you can afford it? Just to reach out a little bit? Other than that try and be the bigger person, don't ignore them, keep them updated on things (maybe a monthly e-mail to one of them with a bit of news, even if they don't reply at least it doesn't cut off communication). Hope you have a lovely wedding day despite this xx

I completely understand about the friends. I moved back over here 5 years ago from Oz and stayed with family the first year and now that I don't live with them I don't hear from them. My cousin who I was close to had a kid at the end of last year, I found on FB not from her yet she text me to let me know she's engaged??? It is true about choosing friends not family all I can say is thank goodness I have fantastic friends and that H2B's family have adopted me, I call his mum my 2nd mum.

As said above be the bigger person(people) still keep them up to date with plans etc and show them pics afterwards and don't let it spoil your special day.

I'm a bridezilla and my confession is...

I don't want any of my friends to get engaged and get married before my wedding in August 2012, in case they happen to choose my colour scheme/ dress/ food/ first dance, anything really!

ohhh i just noticed your newbie sticker RobinRed! how adorable! lol

well, I told OH, he wasnt surprised but was very apologetic for his family, he spoke to his mum last night who said they couldnt come because of money and neither could 2 of the other sisters and family but 2 of the others were still thinking and the message we got was totally wrong.

still not happy but im not going to say anything, im just letting them get on with it... we are going to have an amazing day no matter who comes

I went out on Friday night and met up with an old friend who is getting married in october and has chosen the same colours as me... I was very Bridezilla and mentioned i had already bought my BM dresses in dark blue several times. Not sure why i was so Bridezilla - there will only be one person that's at both our weddings and shes my BM! :D
:DStolen the OH's account so it's Jenna - not Neil:D
