That's pretty sucky about the DJ sittuation.
The music was really important at our wedding, so we wouldn't have even considered a venue where our choice was restricted.
Try and negotiate with them. Say you appreciate that the resident DJ will be old hat at Wedding music, but as you had no choice in the DJ you just want to request a few favourites for the DJ to play along with their normal stuff.0 -
thanks rainbow, they did say we could give them a few and then leave it upto them do you want to see it?I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0

Go on then!0 -
One of my mates had very restricted numbers for her ceremony, but the general gist was if you were invited to the hen do you were also invited to the evening do, I think to only invite you on the hen is odd!

so it got me thinking about ours, we have to use the resident dj so i emailed the venue to ask if we could collude with them re our tastes and they replied with something along the lines of 'we know what a dj should do do you think were stupid? a dj has to cater for loads of different tastes not just yours'
Dear snooty nosed person.
Thank you for your reply to my concerns raised however I must inform you i find your tone rather condescending.
I am sure you do know what a dj does, however you do not know what I want the dj to do at MY wedding. You mention a dj has to cater for all tastes not just mine, may I remind you I am the bride at this wedding. I expect dj will cater to whatever I ask him too, I am the one paying the bill and I am the one who he answers to on the evening.
I have specific requests for the dj, running order, guest song choices, questions etc and I therefore respectfully request that he contacts myself at his earliest convenience so that these queries can be answered.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Dear darling stepmother you will kindly not impose your taste on my wedding, nor look down upon my choices merely because I like to live simply & debt-free and you prefer to rack up debt in order to always have everything looking at its best. You will like our large, family-oriented, comfortable and happy wedding & not !!!!! behind our backs to people about it. Thank you
Yes, and that includes ties for men not being mandatory(!), no giving-away, no speeches apart from my husband, only a few posed formal pics, and no hanging around for hours. No favours, no 'proper' wedding cake and the entertainment (apart from a CD of music) is a jar of lollipops & some bubble pots. People can bring a football and not have to worry about a place setting. There is no top table. My flowers are false to save my time, energy & health (though of course unless both of one's legs are cut off and you're threatening to bleed to death over your new hall carpet, it's not a disability is it really in your book)
I'm sure you understand and will absolutely enjoy the day dearest SM
lolololol
*that's better*
Thank you & good night.0 -
